Good job. I can tell you that in Brooklyn things have changed a lot. Brooklyn Heights, Clinton Hill, Park Slope--all leftist bastions now have at least 2 or 3 American flags per block. I teach in a public junior high school in Carroll Gardens. We have been saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning since 9/11. We stand at attention in the gym first thing every morning, put our hands over our hearts, and say the pledge as a school. Anyone who does not wish to recite the pledge must still stand out of respect. It's become normal after so many years of being out of fashion to express love for our own country. I truly believe that New Yorkers have been touched so deeply by the loss of the Twin Towers and so many of our rescue workers and friends on that day that we are forever changed.

BTW I also don't want to nuke Iraq but doesn't the Art of War advise the warrior to choose the time and place of the conflict if war is inevitable? I've got to go with Rummy on this one. Good to know you're out there fighting the good fight. There are more of us out here than I was aware of before 9/11.

I was at Fairway myself, but earlier (about 11 a.m.). I was amazed that there were *no* signs, tables, etc., since they were ubiquitous in front of Fairway during the 2000 elections (I suppose the Clintons no longer have the federal exchequer in which to hand out "walking around money" sufficiently generous to get these anachronisms up and functional by 11 a.m.)

I did notice a Golisano sign in a garbage pail right outside the 72nd street subway station.

I am truly amused by the rumor that he will get out of the race after spending millions of dollars and urge his "supporters" to vote for McCall. Since Golisano is such a cipher it is doubtful whether he has any "supporters" of his own to throw McCall's way. He was simply a "none of the above" candidate and his withdrawal will cause the disaffected to not vote, not to vote for McCall. If they were inclined to vote for McCall, they would not have supported Golisano to begin with.

What a great story! I am so proud of you for standing up to that unAmerican what that man called him! Good for you, and thanks for sharing the story in such an entertaining way too! I almost felt like I was there! (I would love to shop that market btw lucky you! :-) )

I wish I could tell the Father who lost his son how very sorry I am, and how much I agree with him that these appeasers are the reason we lost all of those people. If they have their way, we will lose more. God Bless him!

Congratulations! Hope it was as much fun doing as it was reading about.

My heart was racing after and I was beaming ear to ear. A few blocks away I was smiling and talking to my 14 month old son telling him how much fun that Freep was. Im normally a very polite and diplomatic person. Not this time!I may have to make a habit of not putting up with kind of garbage. As I educate myself more on FR the angrier these leftists make me and the more inspired I am to fight for what I believe in.

Go, finnman! I was going to introduce you to my daughter (fomerly of the Upper West Side, now a fabulous Denver cop) when I saw that you were already married - shucks!

In any case, many, many cheers for nailing that pathetic bunch of grey-haired lefties in front of the Fairway. Every time I have shopped there, they have driven me out of my mind. Well, except for the cat ladies, who were just depressing - although the cats were cute.

Now go puncture Jerrold Nadler's balloon (that would be Jerrold himself)!

These people think they're the majority and freak out when people like you and the other guy speak out.

Nice work.

Indeed a great neighborhood, although I do laugh going up and down West End Avenue past all the luxury co-ops with the yellow "Fight for Rent Control" signs in apartment windows. These greedy people really piss me off. Old socialist farts living in huge apartments for families paying a few hundred dollars a month in rent while most of us shell out thousands for a closet that we stuff our families in.

Im a born and raised life long Manhattan resident by the way.

...yet you retain your Scandi nom-de-guerre!

I was born in Brooklyn, but've been living in "the city" for a couple of decades.

When I lived there, that pig Andrea Dworkin always had her tables set up at 72nd (or 79th)and Broadway sqawking about the objectification of womyn.....who'd want to objectify her?...lol

LOL, she was an institution on the Upper West Side. She used to scream about pornography and had that blown up Hustler cober of the woman being turned into hamburger in a meat grinder. Not touching the nasty Hustler cover, she was pretty nasty herself. I categorize her as unappealing along with the Black Israelites who scream about the Jews in Times Square.

The cat ladies are ok until they start guilt tripping you into giving them a dollar. I always thought its mean to keep a cat in a 24" square cage all day long in the sun to raise money for their shelter.

Wow, what a story... BRAVO, finnman! A one-man FReep with a child in a stroller, no less! :-)

I know exactly what you mean about those "liberal bearded white men with glasses in their 50s"... I was confronted (and shouted at) many times by these guys in NYC in 2000 when I was volunteering for the Lazio campaign, or FReeping in Times Square for Dubya. You're right - they all seem to look the same. They apparently can't believe the 60s are over, and that every person in the city (in the country, for that matter) isn't as "progressive" as they like to think they are.

Thanks for standing up to the socialists! 6'1", hmmmm, I'll (5'6") freep next to you any time any place. Thanks for making my day.

Don't want to turn this into a s#%@ sandwich but I am totally opposed to your comment on nuking Iraq!

Extended high-altitude bombing, followed by long range artillery fire, then a division of Abrahms tanks followed by ground troop clean up is what I prefer.

But, had I seen you on the street, I would have joined you in the "Nuke Iraq" chant! LOL!
