The cable news channel MSNBC is close to signing Gov. Jesse Ventura as a talk-show host after he leaves office early next year, the Wall Street Journal has reported.

Citing people familiar with the situation, the Journal said NBC News President Neal Shapiro and MSNBC President Erik Sorenson have been wooing Ventura and his agents at the William Morris Agency. Already a regular on MSNBC's political program "Hardball," Ventura would probably be scheduled for prime time, maybe the 7 p.m. slot occupied by Phil Donahue, the Journal reported. Donahue's comeback effort hasn't gotten big ratings.

Talk about an understatement.

Ventura's rantings will be a novelty for a short while, and then most will realize he's just an air-head X pro wrestler and tune out.

you'd expect him to join an independent news channel, not a left-wing one

Shapiro knows Donahue is a deadbeat, knows his network's going down the tubes, $$s are exhausted, & stockholders are raising hell.
Shapiro knows damned well, the end is in sight.

Yet?
For his a last ditch effort to reverse the slide & save his bacon?
The ignoramous simply cannot bring himself around to handing a show exclusively to a conservative, eh?
Nope; no way Jose'.

An "Independent" is as far as the little socialist can bring himself to bear.

Now if they made the implosion of this Liberal-Socialist a show, we'd really have something *fun* to watch.

...ratings would surely skyrocket. :o)

When Donohue rides off into the sunset this time, for gosh sakes, SOMEBODY put a bug on him & keep track of where he disappears to. You never know, we might track the jackass to Bin Laden's cave for an anti-America shindig.

What about Alan Keyes? Pretty conservative dude. Of course Keys was given about 2 months... Donahue is getting unseen amount of chances to turn his bomb around.

Keyes? The annoying grifter? People didn't watch him because his voice grates.

Plus, lets face it, being a perennial candidate means you never have to earn a living or accomplish anything.

Ventura's radio program was always enjoyable. I don't usually agree with him, but he has a hardcore of common sense that is lacking in the PC donahue. Might give fox a run for their money

That is no way to talk about an ex Navy Seal who served his country with honor. An airhead certainly could not qualify to be a Navy Seal. I'll grant you that he may a bit rambunctuous at times, but that doesn't make him "stupid".

"Looks like Donahue's days are numbered."

I never watched his show until last night when I watched the "Town Hall" about our border situation.

Same old rude, condecending, interrupting, Socialist a$$hole he always was. Few tears will be shed when he vanishes.

If they only had the gonads to put Rush on, their ratings would sky rocket. Even CBS got a huge bump on election night because they invited Rush as one of their guest commentators.

"What about Alan Keyes? Pretty conservative dude."

No doubt.
Ever met Dr. Keyes, smith??
I have.
For better or worse Dr. Keyes scared the crap outa people with his strong personality & rock-hard stands on third-rail *issues* the Liberal-Socialists worked "Harder than they ever worked before" making verbotin.

Literally, people were conditioned to reject Dr. Keyes' message & soon after rejected the messenger.
I found it all, quite automatic.

Keyes never stood a chance, going in; regardless, of how "good" (some of us) thought an "Alan Keyes" would be for our sick nation.
Dr. Alan Keyes has been rendered an anchronism primarily because he stands for *something*.

While I personally find the qualities of a man like Dr. Keyes extremely admirable ~in any man?
I especially find 'em desirable in a politician who'd aspire to represent me.

Then again, I'm also a, "radical," smith.
So Alan's appeal was to those few of us on the fringe of the right falling under [that] definition.
We're a gawd-awful small minority, btw.

"Of course Keys was given about 2 months...Donahue is getting unseen amount of chances to turn his bomb around."

I'm surprised Dr. Keyes was ever given a chance, a'tall; nevermind lasting (about) 2 months.

As for Donahue -- a revolting -- Liberal-Socialist of the *first order* given chance after chance after chance??
Well remember Donahue ain't gone quite yet, either; which, if you knew me, could read between the lines?
Was, is, & remains at the crux of my comments, above.

For my money?
I'm looking for Shapiro to be canned first, before Donahue.

Just how it goes with the Lamestream Mediots, smith.
If you want to kill the beast?

...you must cut of its head first & burn the rest, later.

Disagree with him if you must, but there's no need to disrespect a former Navy SEAL. You can't be an airhead and a Navy SEAL.

I think it's great. Ventura will bring some common sense to the airwaves.

A Minnesota Bump List ping.

I think we need to all email/call Tim Pawlenty and get him to take over "Lunch with the Governor". It would be great!

In this case it does. Jesse gov. backpedal Ventura Ted Kennedy in conservative drag.
