During the 1969 season, Ohio State was winning with ease, and Hayes called his top-ranked Buckeyes "probably the best team that ever played college football." I got married to my first wife the day of the game in 69. Half her relatives were from Ohio and alf from Michigan. The Ohio relatives came to town and were bad-mouthing Michigan all morning and predicting a 50 point win because it hadn't been a very good year for Michigan up to then. When the game came on, nobody wanted to leave and go to the reception. By the time the game was over nobody on the Ohio side was speaking to the Michigan side and vice versa. By the time they got to the reception, they were practically killing each other. It took them about 6 or 7 months to get on speaking terms again.

Random thoughts. (Please keep in mind, I am from Hillsdale (MI) and 'don't have a dog in this fight.' However, if I had to choose, it would be Go Blue!)
Years ago I heard a story form the Bo/Woody days. Woody was on a recruiting trip that took him into Michigan. As he was returning to Ohio he ran out of gas while still in Michigan because he refused to buy gas until he made it to the state line.
Seen on a T-shirt of a OSU fan: Directions to Ann Arbor - Go north until you smell it, then west until you step in it.
My brother is a Michigan fan and lives in Toledo. He sent me a tape of Bo giving a motivational speech to a large group of Toledo business executives. Bo talked only of football and had them wrapped around his little finger.

Michigan's Desmond Howard returned a punt for a TD in the '91 game, struck a Heisman pose in the end zone and won the award three weeks later. That was Notre Dame, although I guess he might have done it at OSU too.

While you guys debate, I am going to leave for "The Shoe"... Go Bucks!

Nice post, keyword and son-of-a-Buckeye bump!
(Dad played for Woody on his first teams, I met Woody at the 20th anniversary of the first Rose Bowl team)

OSU's new lady President has chided us football fanatics to mind our manners. I don't think she's prepared for this!

GREAT BALLGAME!!!! It's funny because, being from Cleveland, I always prepare for the worst possible finish but I was very confident Ohio State would pull it off even on the Spartans' final drive.

What a wonderful day it was, eh?

Just when you couldn't have a
lower opinion of the Ohio State Conspiracy to Destroy Western Civilization...
Keep wrecking the cars, Bucs, 'cause you'll be buying new ones from Detroit, MICHIGAN!
