Hate is hate is hate

The savage murder of Mary Stachowicz, the middle-aged Chicago churchgoer allegedly killed by 19-year-old coworker Nicholas Gutierrez, has met with a deafening media silence.

Gutierrez, who is homosexual, confessed that he set upon Stachowicz when she asked him, "Why do you [have sex with] boys instead of girls?" A state's attorney told the Chicago Tribune: "The defendant punched and kicked and stabbed the victim until he was tired. He then placed a plastic garbage bag over her head and strangled her."

Where have we heard of this sort of thing before? Why, in 1998, when three men killed Matthew Shepard after he propositioned them in a bar. Understandably, the men found Shepard's words offensive. They should have told him to get lost. But instead, they tortured and killed him.

Actually, most of what people THINK they know about Matthew Shepard is lies and gay propaganda. (But I repeat myself). This writer has been taken in by these lies, obviously. Too bad, or else he could have made an even STRONGER case than he has!!

The motive behind Shepard's abduction was ROBBERY, plain and simple. The killers (two, not three) were mean SOB's with a long history of being in trouble with the law - often involving violent behavior. At least one of them was awaiting a trial date for burglary at the time they met Shepard. They were broke and were out to rob somebody .... ANYbody.

The same night they attacked Shepard by pistol-whipping him on the side of the head with an unloaded pistol (they were too broke to even afford bullets - another reason they wanted cash badly), they also attacked two Hispanic youths walking across a dark Laramie park. Their M.O. was similar - they pistol-whipped one of the men on the side of the head. But their other intended victim was too quick, and picked up a heavy branch with which he hit one of the THUGS on the side of the head! That latter wound is what led them to being caught .... cops told local hospitals to be on the lookout for the wounded assailant. The thugs got almost no money out of either this attack or the Shepard attack. That's why there were TWO attacks on the same night.

Shepard couldn't have made himself a more inviting target than if he had placed $20 bills hanging out of every pocket. His friends' favorite nickname for him was "Flash" because he was a flashy dresser in the extreme. Although not particularly rich, Shepard made it a high priority to spend all he could afford on expensive clothes. He certainly LOOKED to be loaded with cash. He noticed the two thugs buying beers by scrounging every last little coin from their pockets, and he - probably hoping that they were gay (because they walked in with each other rather than singly or with a woman) - offered to buy them their next round. They had come into the bar for the ONE AND ONLY PURPOSE of finding a victim to rob. The obvious problem here of course is - How do you convince an intended victim to leave the bar alone with you? How? How?

Shepard couldn't have made the solution to this problem any easier for them! When it became obvious what his motive for being friendly was, and when it became obvious that he would leave the bar with anyone who led him to believe they wanted the same thing he wanted, he sealed his own doom. No doubt the beers didn't help the judgment of the man swinging the pistol either. He obviously considered the blows to be of an incapacitating nature, and had no idea his victim would die in a hospital some days later.

This is a tragic story. And it does have a valuable lesson to be learned from it, namely, "WHETHER YOU'RE A MAN OR A WOMAN, NEVER, EVER LEAVE A BAR AT NIGHT WITH TOTAL STRANGERS YOU JUST MET!!!!! LIKE, DUH!" But of course the gay-agenda-sympathetic national press saw to it that this lesson was ignored, and that instead another false lesson was trumpeted from the mountaintops - namely, "Those !##%$^&!! Religious Rightwingers are responsible for this. It's their resisting against the Holy Gay Agenda that turns people into coldblooded gay-killers! James Dobson and the rest all have blood on their hands!!!!"

For the first couple of days Shepard was in the hospital (here in Ft. Collins - 90 min from Laramie), the papers only mentioned "robbery". But little did we know something big was brewing 50 miles to the south in Denver. The true reason for the creation of The Matthew Shepard Martyrdom Myth is .... are you ready for this? ..... a vicious newspaper war! I kid you not. I heard the details of this one evening on a conservative Denver talk-radio show. It turns out that a day or two after the story was printed as a minor item of interest and then forgotten, a certain gay who knew Shepard contacted a friend at the Denver Post to inform them that Shepard was gay - a fact unknown by the press up until that time.

Now, Denver has long been a two-newspaper town, and the Post and the Rocky Mountain News were tenacious rivals, each struggling to find anything at all that they can scoop the other with to gain some circulation advantage here or there. So the Post, with little or no supporting evidence, splashed all over their front pages the fact that Shepard was killed for being gay. The News scrambled to deal with this major setback in The Circulation Wars, but still found no solid evidence to print. So a SECOND day came and went with the Post selling out its papers with the screaming headlines, and the News still sitting there thunderstruck.

So of course in self-defense, the News came out the third day with their own screaming headlines. No solid evidence of course. But what else could they do? The Post was wiping the floor with them! As time went on, it became more and more evident that the motive was just what police had been saying all along - ROBBERY. But it was far too late for the two papers to back down and eat crow. So they subtly changed the words used to refer to the crime in a way that technically was no longer a LIE, but that nevertheless deliberately MISLED readers to think that nothing had changed in their story.

The weasel-worded phrase they concocted was absolutely CLINTONIAN in its magnificence! They said (and still say) that "Shepard was targeted for his homosexuality". This is arguably true, but only in the sense that the thugs used his gayness as the lever to get him out of the bar - by pretending to be gay themselves. But the phrasing is also such that any casual reader of these weasel words will assume that the motive for the crime was hatred of gays, rather than robbery. Ask yourself this : if Shepard had turned out to be straight, and one of the thugs had gone home to fetch his girlfriend to use as bait to get him out of the bar, would you expect to see a headline screaming, "... TARGETED FOR HIS HETEROSEXUALITY!" Of course not. That's a laughable headline. The sad thing is that almost nobody knows that the Shepard headlines were - and still are - equally silly.

And so now we have Shepard - a robbery victim and a victim of his own poor judgment - magically morphed into a martyr, a bonafide hero, a role model for youth everywhere. This is truly the biggest tragedy of all that has come out of his death.
