PARIS, Dec 9 (AFP) - Security guards at Paris' Orly airport on Monday prevented a man carrying a live bullet from boarding a flight of the Israeli airline El Al to Tel Aviv, airport officials said. The man, whose identity was not revealed, told police the bullet was a family souvenir.
Police released the man after confiscating the bullet, but he missed his flight.

Remember: Bring a live gun onto a flight in Paris and they'll surrender! ;)

What is the difference between a live bullet and a dead bullet? I may be dense but there seems to be some definition problems here. Live, spent, fired, in transit, cartridge?

Not the El Al flights in Paris...

Live = will go off if fired in a gun, and propel a bullet downrange
If the bullet was a souveneir, it probably wasn't live, but the AFP (French version of reuters/associated press) reporters are idiots.

Ouch. I almost did this by accident recently. I was at the range and stuck an ejected (live) bullet into my pocket, but it landed in the watch pocket of my jeans. Fortunately, I found it while cleaning out my pockets prior to doing the laundry.

I actually made a mistake and took a range bag on vacation ..... when I got to my father house (destination) I found 6 rounds of 357 live ammo in the bag that the screeners missed.
Oops

OK. They caught the bullet. Did they miss the other two (or three) people who had parts of a pistol smuggled on board?

When our youngest son became a Sheriffs Deputy years ago his brother bought him a bullet, cigar cutter to carry on his key chain.. He has never thought much about it but we just flew from Atlanta to Houston and they didn't seem to notice it..

That is a cheap shot. France helped us in our independence war against King George. If it was not for their help, you we would be the subjects of the retarded Windsor family.
France's headlines on Sept 12, 01 "WE ARE ALL AMERICANS". How much stronger support or sympathy can you find in this world? The hostility between the French, and us came out late, after consistence lack of coordination and consultation between the current administration and France. However, fundamentally, the French people Helped Israel in its vulnerable stage, and do not deserve this disrespect.

Stronger support? Certainly more than six officers and a jet.

Same thing happened to a friend with one 45 ACP bullet on going to Europe.

The only reason Israel survived the 56, 67 wars against the Arabs was because of the French military force was behind them. The entire Israeli's air force (the source of their victory) came from France, the mirage fighters! The Israelis nuclear weapons development came from France. The US did not want to arm Israel during the Eisenhower administration, and during the Kennedy, and Johnson administrations, we harassed Israel about their development of nuclear weapons! France had the vision to protect that small country in a sea of hostile barbaric Moslems. We and Israel should stop disrespecting France. It is a wonderful country, and its people are our and the Israelis best friends.
