Since Lott praised Thurmond's 1948 Dixiecrat presidential candidacy last Thursday, saying that if he'd been elected "we wouldn't have had all these problems over these years," I disagree with Lott's statement. 1948 was a little over 80 years after the end of the Civil War. The people who fought that war and their children were dying out. Race was going to be an important issue as a new generation of politicians and voters came to power.

Newsmax.com just doesn't get this one. They are stuck on process and haven't dealt with the substance of the issue. The fact of the matter is that Byrd was a dodering old fool, not a current majority leader who is supposed to be leading the Senate. Republicans are the ones who are making this a big deal because they don't like it and they don't want to associate themselves with his remarks. NewsMax.com just can't see beyond their kneejerk "its the PC police" thinking. The senate majority leader on live tv cannot make a racially insensitive joke without seeming racially insensitive. We have worked too hard to earn some black votes and I don't want to see that thrown away by an unwise majority leader.

"My old mom told me, 'Robert, you can't go to heaven if you hate anybody.' We practice that. There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time; I'm going to use that word." The problem is that Byrd sstill believes in the concept of "[insert racial slur her]" itself.

Anyone have a video link to Byrd's interview last year?

The extremely short life of this "controversary" ( it has now hit about the 12th of it's 15 minutes) will actually prove to be yet another bitter reminder for the rats and the rat controlled media that they no longer can select what is or; what is not an important story. The laugh here is that even on FOX there has been some speculation about this having an effect on Black voters. Believe me,Black voters who thought they had had an election stolen from them in Florida, could not must up an anger that was visable and Black voters nationwide won't be any different, They will vote the way the rat plantation owners tell them to period. You can't do better than 90% anyway!
