What's the rules in that state? Would he have to give up his senate seat to run? That would effect my vote.

If I'm not mistaken, South Dakota passed a law that states that he would need to resign from the Senate to run for President.

So I think I do want to encourage him to run for President!

You are right. They passed a new law last session that says you cannot run for two offices at the same time.
