Where in the Bible is the word Pergatory? Or the mention of any saint in Heaven praying for anyone on earth?

See Revelation 5:8. Also The Communion of the Saints is implied in Hebrews 11 and 12 ("Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses ...").

Yours in Christ,

Martin

Being that today is Christmas, you think there is the slightest chance you can just let someone post a thread that does no harm to anyone and let it be? Go start your own thread and let this one be. At least for today.

Please, it's Christmas. Attagirl asked this of those that believe. Please don't argue against anyone's beliefs today. It is unbecoming and not what Christ would want as a birthday present. I will pray for EVERYONE today, as Christ gave us a fine gift. Himself. Thank you Attagirl. Merry Christmas and All God's Blessing upon us all.

It was a very early custom Christians, unlike pagans, to pray for the dead, and as St. Augustine pointed out, there's no point in praying for souls already in heaven and hell.

In his study examining the origins of the Jewish tradition of praying for the dead, Solomon Reinach nicely observes: "Pagans prayed to the dead, Christians prayed for the dead" ("De l’origine des prières pour les morts," Revue des Etudes juives 41 [1900]: 164).

This article is clearly bait for rabid fundamentalists. As for myself, I'm still looking for the word "trinity" and "rapture."
