A FReeper Call To ACTION (Vanity, sort of)
Last Friday Ellen Ratner was on Fox's Your World with Neil Cavuto substitute-hosted by Brenda Butner. She basically said that she hoped Bush botches the war so he won't get reelected. There were a couple of threads on it, Ellen Ratner on Cavuto: "I hope he [Bush] screws up the war so he isn't re-elected".[Vanity] , ELLEN RATNER SAYS SHE HOPES WAR IN IRAQ GOES BADLY FOR U.S. (FOX INTERVIEW, and most recently Report on Ellen Ratner's "Dead Americans" Comment.
A number of us emailed various Fox personnel and there was a call by some for a major FReep.
It was my opinion that the timing was not good as we were going into a weekend in the middle of a holiday and a lot of people would miss it. So I decided to put it up today.
First, consider the exchange:
My transcript of Ellen Ratner's comment on Your World, December 28, 2002
Posted on 12/28/2002 3:42 PM CST by Paul Atreides
I taped Ellen RATner's predictions to Brenda Buttner as she filled in on Your World with Neil Cavuto. Here is my transcript of her comments:
BB: You basically saying that he's going to be reelected, I mean essentially unless the economy tanks...
ER: That is unless he messes up the war....my hope.
BB: Your hope?!
ER: Well, I don't want him to be reelected.
BB: Right, but I mean, 'mess up the war,' what do you mean by that?
ER: Do something that will make Americans say 'Maybe we shouldn't have done this.' You know, that kind of thing.
That she could so flippantly dismiss the efforts and LIVES of our servicepeople for base partisanship was stunning. She is well known as a junkyard operative of the James Carville school but this went WAY too far. She does not deserve airtime on Fox.
In order to have a mass effect on Fox, and others, I have complied a list of contact information as follows:
Roger Ailes
General Comments
Sean Hannity
Tony Snow
Britt Hume
John Gibson
Oliver North
Brenda Buttner
Neil Cavuto
Bill O'Reilly
I would put up her email address but she'd just feel flattered.
Her boss at World Net Daily: JOSEPH FARAH
It can't hurt to enlist the Talk Radio shows too, so:
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity on WABC
Neil Boortz
Michael Reagan
Mike Gallagher
G. Gordan Liddy
IT IT TIME TO ACT!!! Email these people to get this person off the air. Here is the message I sent:
(To Neil Cavuto)
Ellen Ratner has made some extraordinarily provocative comments on various Fox appearances. However when she said today that she hoped Bush would botch the war in Iraq so he wouldn't get reelected she crossed any line of decency or civility and possibly into traitorous territory. She is perfectly aware of the horrendous cost of lives in our military and the Iraqi people that such a misadventure would entail.
I understand the concept of "fair and balanced" but you disgrace yourself by allowing this person to appear on your programs.

Let's see to it that Ellen Ratner no longer brings shame to an otherwise decent channel.

I emailed Brit Hume when it first aired and I emailed him and Roger Ailes again just now. But as was pointed out even if they don't fire Ratner it will be a reminder to us all of the obvious "win at all costs" mentality of the lefties. Semper Fi

I've done all of what's been suggested already, including emailing Fox and signing the petition. I'm at the ready for any other ideas. Thanks for your hard work. It's much appreciated by this freeper!

I agree with you and just sent one off to Mr. Ailes.
I also , mentioned my distaste for Geraldo. Let's don't forget him , Greta and Dianne Diamond. It would appear that FNC has become a dumping ground for people that even the Liberal networks have rejected.

Brenda Buttner replied to my e-mail and she does want to get Ratner on again to follow up on it. Good for her! Unfortunately, Ellen will have her spin worked out by then.

She is allowed to say it because she's a liberal. How much you want to bet other liberals will defend it somehow?

How much you want to bet other liberals will defend it somehow? I can just picture Carville saying, "This is a free country, she can say whatever she want (sic) to. Just because she don't think this war will go right don't mean she don't respect the military which this President is abusing. That's the whole point, she wants a good President in there so the war can be done right."

Thanks for the ping, Paul, I will be emailing tomorrow. Can't BELIEVE I missed this, news junkie that I am...

Here's the e-mail I sent to all of these folks:
RE: Ellen RATner
Just a quick note to ensure that you are aware of Ellen Ratners appalling comments made on the Fox News Networks Your World show that aired on December 28. The exchange with the host, Brenda Buttner, went like this:
BB: You basically saying that he's going to be reelected, I mean essentially unless the economy tanks...
ER: That is unless he messes up the war....my hope.
BB: Your hope?!
ER: Well, I don't want him to be reelected.
BB: Right, but I mean, 'mess up the war,' what do you mean by that?
ER: Do something that will make Americans say 'Maybe we shouldn't have done this.' You know, that kind of thing.
I understand that the Fox News Network wishes to be fair and balanced but Ratners statement was far removed from a normal partisan jab. I cannot interpret her statement to be anything other than a wish for harm to come to the brave men and women of our Armed Services.
Please hold this idiots feet to the fire. As the legal guardian of a young man who will be at Fort Benning on June 20, 2003 to begin his service to our country, it disgusts me that someone with such political influence could toss out so callous and traitorous a comment.
Sincerely,
Islander-11
