Hunter Becomes Prey as Eagle Makes Meal of Dog

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - A golden eagle made a meal of a dachshund hunting dog in Sweden after experts warned the cold spell sweeping northern Europe was forcing hungry birds of prey closer to towns and cities.

The dog was taking part in a rabbit hunt in Halland, southwestern Sweden, when it became the prey, local radio news reported on Wednesday.

Owner Valdemar Nilsson will replace the animal at the government's expense -- under Swedish law, the government compensates losses of cattle and dogs caused by bears, wolves, wolverines, lynx and eagles.

You didn't think they were bred for their looks, did ya? They're good little ratters, but most people just keep 'em in the house where they can bite their ankles.

Yup... they can go right down into the badger's den. Bloodthirsty little critters, too - I had one when I was a kid. She used to pluck moles right out of the lawn. The oversized bratwurst could hear the mole beneath the soil and would poke her pointy snoot right down into the lawn, and she'd come up chewing. LOL!

Way. I know a guy who specializes in birds of prey and works for the Dep't of Natural Resources - he's seen many a dog collar in nests he's been in.

Here's a specially bred Flying Chocolate Lab swooping down on a Dachshund . . .

She didn't carry him off, though.

This dog has done this hovering act since she was a small pup. Breeder says her mother does it too. I don't know why. The Dachshund thought she was possessed. (Look at the expression of horror on his face.)

Ditto. I currently own a weenie dog and when pissed the hair on her back stands up in a ridge right along her backbone. I wouldn't want to be on her bad side. LOL

Hunting with weinerdogs?

Actually, the Dachsund is a true hound that was bred by the Germans for hunting badgers. Their small legs and powerful chest allow them to enter a badger tunnel and have a chance to survive the encounter.

The media misses the most poignant point in the article. The cold spell sweeping nothern Europe. What we get from the non bias media is how warm it is in Nebraska.

If the libs ( don,t deserve caps )don't understand why we listen to conservative Radio Hosts, even if you do not agree with them you get both sides.
