Manufacturers of long-lasting goods made more heavy cuts last month, with 46,000 positions eliminated. Even if the economy returns to strong growth, those jobs may not return. "All the jobs that have been lost in the United States in manufacturing have essentially been recreated in China," Mr. Wolfe said.

Payrolls in nonfarm businesses, adjusted to account for normal seasonal variations, dropped by 101,000. — what C.E.O.'s would complain of as a lack of visibility — that they don't have a clear mental model of how things might move forward," said Bill Martin, chief economist at UBS Global Asset Management. "The issue has not been the cost of capital," he said. "The issue has been demand for the products and the services." The idea that when hundreds of thousands of people are put out of work they are no longer a market for goods and services has been declared obsolete in modern euphoric Christian globalist thinking occupying the White House. Jimmy Carter is now back in the White House with a new name.

Don't worry. There is an ultimate plan behind this that only Bush and his idolizers can see will be the salvation of the world. You need "a clear mental model" to understand that this nation is not being destroyed. The psychiatric term for clear mental model is blind delusion.

The Bushs will be the destruction of this country while anyone who sees it is called an Owlgore supporter.

Absolutely moronic.

Creative destruction is the heart of the American market-based economy.

Excess resources must be purged, and quickly, to remain competitive.

Unlike the Japanese corporate welfare solution which rewards inefficiency, the American economy will remain robust and surpass all others by warding off the Socialists at all costs.

Lead-type print setters, coal miners, vinyl record producers and 8-track stereo manufacturers all have a friend in the Democratic economic plan.

Such stupidity can only come from a government employee.

THAT is the essence of the President Bush’s economic policy: follow the wishes of the NAFTA - GATT –WTO. Americans will have the following employment choices:
1) hamburger flippers
2) selling insurance and real estate to each other, or
3) getting a lucrative Govt. job.

In those industries where the cost of labor is the primary difference in the cost of producing a good and getting it to market, production will shift to the producer who has lower labor cost. This shift is accelerated in a world where barriers to trade are coming down. If all other factors remain constant, this will lead to a decrease in revenue to businesses that pay relatively higher wages to comparable workers, resulting in a contraction of those businesses and more unemployment.
The benefit of this to consumers, assuming all other factors (personal income, for example) remain constant, is a higher standard of living as the cost of goods fall.

Despite the NYT trying to present the most gloomy scenario to damage Bush, the stats on Friday were meaningless. The vast majority of layoffs were in the retail sector, as expected, which is why the market immediately rallied back massively to take out the highs. Full speed ahead. Go back to the Marxist swamp NYT writers, Dubya is headed for victory and the unemployment rate will be back under 5% in Nov. 2004.

Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, said. "When is President Bush going to realize that job creation needs to be his top priority?"

When are the Democrats going to realize that the private sector, not the government, should be the ones creating jobs?

When are the sheeple going to realize that the Dems are only for themselves and their own power and not for the good of the country?

Government's Gloomy Fiscal Forecast - January 15, 2003
"President Bush's budget chief said Wednesday that the White House envisions federal deficits in the $200 billion to $300 billion range over the next two years, a dramatic worsening of the government's fiscal picture since last summer."
