In all actuality, it was the dems that told Al to take his ball and go home.
Kerry and Edwards also have criticized Bush's Iraq policy... but they are the chosen ones.
Lieberman, Gephardt and Dean will bow out before too long. The dems want someone different.

I think it was the,
"You're out of Cheney's House, You're out of Cheney's House!" cheer as he was leaving Olsson's Books that turned the tide.
It just hurt his sensitive 'widdle' eardrums.

"This double layer of protection makes the Bushes almost unique in American politics, shielded both by aggressive right-wing activists and by the Georgetown social set." The Georgetown social set..yeah, right! They're too busy being angry that the president's in bed at 10 every night to act as his "shield".
This author is a fool!

It should be a very satisfying feeling to know that Gore's mental stability has been compromised by the actions of the DC Chapter. (imagine the nightmares he must have...) :-)

These critics saw the national press corps divided roughly into two parts: a dedicated conservative media, and mainstream journalists who, out of fear or personal careerism, generally followed the lead of the conservative media. Gore had become the touchstone of this debate. "Mainstream" New York Times! LOL!
psychosis [sy.KO.sis] (n).
The inability to distinguish between what is real and what is imaginary. Psychosis is a term used to describe a severe mental illness. Psychotics are characterized by a variety of symptoms that most people consider abnormal. These include experiencing delusions, such as the notion that one is being persecuted or conspired against. Psychotics may see things which don't actually exist and hear Voices (i.e. God) when no one is around. They often exhibit compulsive, irrational, ritualized behavior, esp. when such behavior serves no purpose or is even harmful or disruptive to those around them. They show no concern for others but may exhibit total self-centered behavior. Includes sociopathy, schizophrenia.

But Gores decision did not sit well with some Democrats who remain outraged over Bushs hardball strategies in Florida, including the disenfranchisement of thousands of African-American voters. This is a lie -- many key Democratic blocs are simply too stupid to use a voting machine. What is true, but never spoken by the far-Left, is their attempt to throw-out all absentee votes from servicemen and -women, as contemptable an act as has ever occured in American history.

The Republicans have a well-oiled media machine that can spew mud on each and every fresh face and the Democrats are still in no position to do anything about it. Oh? Like spreading rumors about a candidate's 20-year-old DUI three days before an election?

"On Dec. 7, outside an Olssons book store in Arlington, Va., demonstrators sporting photos of Rush Limbaugh and carrying signs from the Web site FreeRepublic.com shouted at people in line waiting to have Al and Tipper Gore sign copies of Joined at the Heart, their book about families in America. The demonstrators shouted slogans through a bull horn, accusing Gore of trying to steal the election in Florida two years ago. So Gore may well have surveyed the political landscape and concluded that there was no feasible route for him to reach the White House, that another run would simply leave him carrying the blame for another Bush victory.
Loveley!
Thank you Freepers.

Ladies and gentlemen I think we should have some form of recognition for these folks at the Book Store Freep!
Is it possible to have some king of Honors or Awards Page set up and maybe some medals made up for all who participated? I will gladly contribute to costs and I am sure we can get many volunteers to contribute!

Our view for years has been that Americans concerned about the growing right-wing dominance of the national news media must invest in a counter-media that will not treat the Bush family like royalty and will give American voters important information on other topics. It is so typical of a socialist to fail to recognize that it's the MARKET for news that has changed, not the news delivering organizations. What was Salon if not an idiotic investment and an attempt to force the market?
There is a new reality, folks, a new dynamic created by the eight years of Clinton lies and the corresponding loss of CREDIBILITY on the part of the left leaning media.
The dems don't realize it, and it's just beginning to dawn on the media moguls. Ain't life grand!

For all these many years we had to use fists, sticks and stones against the leftist media's guns and artillery.
Now that we have a few guns and artillery pieces they cry foul. - Tom

Unbelievable, these guys bitch and moan about lil ole Free Republic and one Freep, but seem to forget about the huge Talibanapalooza Festival they are about to have in DC and other places.
To: kristinn
Evidently, that FReep had an impact far beyond the patrons at Olsson's that day....
which is EXACTLY what I was surmising to you last Friday, Kristinn! BUMP for your great work with the DC Chapter.
