A memorial is scheduled Friday for Dick Carver, a Nye County rancher who led a fight for local control of federal lands in Nevada.

Carver died Thursday at Nye County General Hospital. A cause of death was not given, but Carver said in November 2001 he was fighting a brain tumor. He was 58.

Probably a close friend of Wayne Hage. He lives in Nye County north of Tonopah. Only 58. Sad.

Thank you for posting this. I have been asking what happened to this hero of the sagebrush rebellion and no one seemed to know. What a man! He was an inspiration to me!

People laughed at his efforts to turn back the stranglehold of insolent Federal tyrants with their bloated bureaucracies tormenting and terrorizing any and all rugged individualism.

To both he and I, they were/are no better that the tyrants of King George, described in the Declaration of Independence! He helped me understand that the "War on the West" was only possible as all western states were never on an "Equal Footing" with the original 13 states in our so-called United States!!!

God rest this good man's soul and God comfort his loved ones in their loss.

He was an insirpartion and an example to many of us here in the West and all over the country.

God grant that we can nurture, advance and carry on the spirit of liberty and the principles upon which it rests that this man held so close to his heart and that he put into action in his life. May will all take action in the activities around us as this man did, and not just let the principles simply languish within us.

He will be missed, but his fight will carry on.

Jeff

You are welcome. Hope your computer is doing better.

This man will be sorely missed, but Someone else has him working now up yonder and I'm sure it is important work, and that he's doing it well and with a will.

On a side note, I decided to put away my "walkin" shoes for the engineering consulting work I have been doing. After a lot of last year down in Texas, I decided to just do computer work locally here around Emmett and Boise, and Web Development on the net.

Best to you, God bless.

Jeff,

Your presence in the west is still much needed, and Idaho will be happy to have you. I smell trouble in Klamath, and Nevada has some serious problems coming. I say Nevada has problems coming after watching that RINO governor's speech the other night, who plans on taxxing the state to death. No country has ever taxxed it's way to wealth. Wonder if he has ever considered developing natural resources in a state that is 82%+ controlled by the federal government? Maybe he should talk to Wayne Hage for some lessons in common sense, or read history of Dick Carver.

I hope Helen runs for Governor either in Nevada or Idaho. We need someone, some governor, to take a stand like the County Comissioners in Nye County, or over in Elko did.

I'm still here in Idaho my friend. I was simply talking about putting away my "walkin" shoes as regards my business activities and engineering consulting.

God's speed.
