<p>Forest Service officials are pressing Nevada's Shovel Brigade to retract radio ads they say are inflammatory and promote ill will toward agency officials by describing them as armed and dangerous.</p> <p>But leaders of the citizen activist group challenging federal jurisdiction over a rugged canyon road bordering threatened trout habitat say the ads are truthful.</p>

<p>A memorial is scheduled Friday for Dick Carver, a Nye County rancher who led a fight for local control of federal lands in Nevada.</p> <p>Carver died Thursday at Nye County General Hospital. A cause of death was not given, but Carver said in November 2001 he was fighting a brain tumor. He was 58.</p>

<p>Environmentalists are accusing federal land managers in Nevada and Idaho of violating the Endangered Species Act by allowing livestock grazing and water diversions harmful to the threatened bull trout in the Jarbidge River.</p> <p>The Western Watersheds Project and Committee for the High Desert filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management on Monday that charges the agencies with not doing enough to protect the fish that federal biologists say is vulnerable to extinction.</p>

I was there today in Saginaw, Texas to meet the Klamath Falls convoy to the Sawgrass Rebellion.
