Columbus Air Force Base is about 5 miles north of Columbus, Mississippi University for Women is within the city limits, and the main campus of Mississippi State is in Starkville, about 27 miles west.

Isn't there a nursing school in Colombus MS? MIssissippi University for Women (MUW--pronounced MOOO!). Also the location of Columbus Air Force Base, a pilot training base.
