They are on the border, but not doing what they should be doing. The military should not be involved in the police work of fighting drugs. They should, however, be deployed to protect our borders. Unfortunately, nobody seems to care about that.

Like looking thru toilet-paper tubes. It doesn't help when you're focused on the ground, and you don't have a bunch of aircrew eyeballs keeping you out of trouble.

RE post 7: The reason they have accidents is because they don't get proper flight time training. This has been the history of the military. X42 spent all training money on foreign intervention, and that may be what is going on now.

Another excellent point. I was USN, and from the Gulf War on, I was lucky to get five hours of flying a week, and 5 hours of night time a month. Under GHWB, we started losing money for training & maintenance, but under Clinton we BLED.
