I had the pleasure of attending Senator Rick Santorum's little speech/press release yesterday in the Senate offices.
He really laid out the logic of his Pro-Life stance so even a child could understand it.
There was applause and smiles all around.
Then Senator Arlen Spector got up, and said he was against Partial Birth Abortions, (OK, that's good), then went on to outline his pro-abortion stance.
This, of course, was met with several severe rounds of booing.
OK, so a couple of questions about the senior Senator from Pennsylvania:
1) Did he not understand the simple logic that Rick Santorum laid out, or maybe he thought that under Scottish law, another set of logic applies (does it?).
2) He somehow completely forgot that the room was filled with 200 avid Pro-Lifers who just marched several miles in single-digit temperatures to express their outrage over Pro-Abortion Legislators!
3) What are the chances that our good and wise American Brothers and Sisters in Pennsylvania will re-elect Spector, even under Scottish law?

Yes, "let them lose, I prefer a Democrat to a RINO". How absurd. Rick Santorum's record on abortion is unassailable. Like Guiliani, regardless of policy differences, he campaigns diligently for the ticket.
Sadly, pretty good.
A person can't stand up and identify a moral outrage one day, then go around the next day acting as if it isn't such a big deal.
This is where the pro-life movement falls apart. If abortion is the diabolical crime against humanity that we say it is, then we are obliged to ostracize ANYONE who supports it no matter which party they are from.
In Biblical terms, it's called "shaking the dust from one's sandals."
"Spector . . . yeah, I know that name. I don't know why I know that name, but I do. He must be the one I wanted to vote for."
But a pro-abort Republican WILL vote for pro-life bills/judges if he/she gets pressure from a Republican President or the Party in general, where with a Demoncrat there would be no such bending to pressure.
Ah, the impeachment of President Klinton.
I believe he voted against his removal because he thought perhaps perjury was not an impeachable offense according to Scottish Law.
A logical political tack? Maybe under SCOTTISH law...
He does, however, have the support of the states old blue-blood reps. like Ellsie Hillman in Pittsburgh, as well as the similar species around the state. Ellsie didn't support Santorum (nor did McSphincter).
Defeating him in the primary would require someone w/ considerable stature (not Fischer) and the only Rep. in PA fitting that bill may be Schwieker (I have no idea what his position on abortion is), and even that is a long shot.
As repulsive as the man is I think we're stuck w/ him. In any case he's still better than having a democrat in that spot (if only marginally).
Yea, I understand your point, I'm just confused as to how can a state that elects an intelligent, articulate, conservative like Rick Santorum, also keep sending Spector back to DC.
In my state (Konnecticut), like NY and CA, both of our senators are pro-abort liberal Dems - at least we're consistent in our dementia. : (
