Did you watch the semi-finals (or was it quarter-finals) with Roddick and El Aoywahi? (sorry, I mangled the name) It was a five hour match which started at 7:30pm their time. And lasted till 12:30am. The last set alone was 2 hours!! But Roddick won. I'm not into tennis much these days (I'm more of a golf fan), but I did happen to catch the end of the last set, when they were at 15-15 (games), or something like that.
I also caught the last set of Serena Williams against some blonde player, Kim something. Williams won.

I didn't catch the matches. I've been following the winners through the tournament but always ended up missing the broadcasts. Sounds like I missed a gooder!

BTW, whatever happened to Pete Sampras? Did he retire due to injury or something? I never was a fan of his, until I happened to see both Agassi and Sampras interviewed. Agassi was/is a complete jerk. He was mean-spirited and unpleasant. Sampras, on the other hand, was a complete gentleman, very sportsman-like.

He better get it done in four, his legs are getting too old to run a five setter over five hours. However, his opponent had a grinding five setter to get there, so the fatigue factor may make it equal in a fifth set. If you're old enough, there was a match for all times in an Australian Open, between Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall ... remember that one?

No, Sampras isn't in this tournament but I don't think he's retired. Patrick Rafter did retire.

I knew a trainer who worked at the US open in the mid 90's. He was of the opinion that Sampras was a stuck-up country club boy.

I'm not sure which one (if either) is stuck up, but I do know Sampras and Agassi are lifelong friends.. been in the same circles and using each other for practice since they were teenagers. They talk about each other a lot in interviews.

MAN did you see that double-fault? Looks like me playing.
I don't know much about this guy. 31 seed in the finals is impressive, I guess.

I'm not sure which one (if either) is stuck up, but I do know Sampras and Agassi are lifelong friends.. been in the same circles and using each other for practice since they were teenagers. I find that highly doubtful. In the interview I saw, Agassi was saying unpleasant things about Sampras! I think it was a Charlie Rose interview. Maybe the transcript is online. If they're friends... it just doesn't seem possible. I got the distinct impression that Agassi hated Sampras. They may have had a lifelong rivalry since they were young, but I would be really surpised if they were friends (based on what Agassi said about him). Agassi is just a sour guy. Sour, cranky, grumpy, mean, etc. :D

Steffi could beat this guy. ;-) That's a name I haven't heard in awhile. Whatever happened to Steffi Graff? Is she still playing? Still at the top?

I just turned it on! Oh, boo! Agassi won. He was bowing and raising his arms like he was Jesus bestowing a bessing. Good grief!
To: my_pointy_head_is_sharp
No, she's married to Andre Agassi and they just had a kid :) (for real) Think he'll play tennis?
