"I don't buy their stuff much, but the pint I had a few months ago was the last, apparently."

I buy all my ice cream from Schwans, delivered to my door. It's the best, hands down.

I think that he was acting on his own. His group is a front for the usual leftist organizations, but I think that he put up the $200,000 for the ad from his own pocket.

Owned by Unilever...does not surprise me....Unilever has been sponsoring trashy TV shows in the US for years. I cannot even remember the last time I bought a Lever product....still boycotting them since starting 5 or 6 years ago....

Why don't you hear about PETA protesting against Ben & Jerry for their exploitation and abuse of dairy cows?

Good question

We talked about this yesterday so will repost some info for those that did not see the earlier posts:

802-846-1500 - Monday through Friday, 9:00 - 5:00 EST. Ask for Consumer Affairs. Ben & Jerry's

or your message across via email ..... http://www.benjerry.com/ca/

However Ben is no longer an owner . The old VP stayed and is on the Board of Directors . But in my digging, as I could not imagine Ben giving up all ties with the company he founded and found that the new company: Unilever still filters money thru Ben for his activism.

Priorities Inc. is comprised of the following four entities: (True Majority) http://www.truemajority.com/

Military Advisory Committee:

a dozen distinguished military analysts and experts on the subject of excess Pentagon spending, including the Chair, Vice Admiral John J. Shanahan (USN, ret.); Former CIA Director, Admiral Stansfield Turner (USN, ret.); Dr. Lawrence Korb, Former Asst. Sec. Of Defense in the Reagan Administration; Rear Admiral Eugene Carroll (USN, ret.); and Col. David Hackworth (USA, ret.), America’s most decorated living combat veteran.

Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities:

a group of 500 corporate leaders including the current or former Chairpersons or CEOs of Eastman Kodak, Goldman Sachs, Visa International, Phillips Van Heusen, Hasbro, Stride Rite, and Time Warner.

Religious Leaders for Sensible Priorities:

leading religious leaders of denominations representing 30 million Americans, including the Presbyterians, Methodists, Jews, Buddhists National Baptists, and American Muslims, as well as a host of individual clerics.

Entertainers for Sensible Priorities:

world-renowned leaders from the creative community, including Paul Newman, Ted Turner, and others.

TrueMajority was founded by Ben Cohen, Co-founder, Ben and Jerry’s. It is a grassroots education and advocacy project of Priorities, Inc., a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-deductible, 501(c)(3) corporation

Monday October 15 2001 Unilever gives millions to activists via Ben & Jerry's

Unilever has given millions of dollars through its Ben & Jerry's subsidiary to anti-globalisation protest groups and critics of corporate greed. Activist organisations such as Global Exchange and the Ruckus Society, which trained and organised demonstrators who shut down the meeting of the World Trade Organisation in Seattle in 1999, have received Unilever(former owners of B&J's) funds.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!We have known about them for a long time...now is the time to hit them in the pocketbook, along with the Hollywood Blame America First Crowd!!

Never again will I buy their ice cream. I'm also keeping a list of those Hollyweird communists who support the DemocRATS including Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon, Barbara Streisand, George Clooney, Sean Penn, and Julia Roberts, and will never give another penny of my money to see any of their movies or tv shows. My few bucks may not make a difference, but I'll be damned if they get any of it!

God bless President Bush and USA

If Ben Cohen was a Republican, PETA would be foaming at the mouth about the dairy cows suffering Animal Rights Violations. They would say he was a typical greedy Capitalist pig. As it is he's just a Socialist Swine.

Wow, that is a real eye opener. I think that you should e-mail this information to Hannity. He had Ben Cohen on his show last night.

Reading some of the information on Uni-lever was interesting also. I have found that more than one of the European based global companies are playing both sides of the aisle on globalization. BP comes to mind. They now donate to Greenpeace, I am told, and support the Kyoto treaty. These companies are definitely heading toward a fascist relationship with the New World Order.

Did anyone see the Susan Sarandon ad?

I surfed between ABC, CBS and NBC from 8:55 and 9:00 and did not see it.

I think that Ben and Jerry's has new owners. Ben Cohen is no longer associated with the company.

You are correct. The company was sold a few years ago.

Unilever is a world wide concern and it is funding organizations that oppose its business model.Something doesn't jibe in that scheme.

Ben Cohen is no longer associated with the company.

Read the posts above ..Unilever gives millions to him a for activist reasons. When someone sells their company often some ties remain..seems like Ben made sure Ben & Jerry's would still put money into his (Ben's) interests.

When we introduced Peace Pops® back in 1988, the name became synonymous with portable ice cream euphoria packaged with a message supporting a progressive peace-building initiative. Folks have been calling them Peace Pops ever since, & frankly, we're more than happy for the opportunity to give peace - & Peace Pops - another chance. As part of our unveiling (again) of Peace Pops, we're working on a list of actions folks can take to help create a peaceful world. We expect to have it here by mid-February. Please check back . . . it will be worth your wait!

Ben & Jerry's One Sweet Whirled Campus Tour Team is on the road again, hitting campuses nationwide. 20 colleges and universities have been chosen to participate in the tour, part of our larger One Sweet Whirled Global Warming Campaign. The Campus Tour Team's goal is to raise student awareness of the effects of global warming and the actions students can take to reduce their own CO2 emissions. Source: Homepage
