The "Peace" Movement isn't about Peace

The "Peace" Movement Isn't About Peace
By Center for the Study of Popular Culture
FrontPageMagazine.com | January 19, 2003

Will you help me place this advertisement in 50 college newspapers across America?

The ad describes the so-called "peace" movement as the anti-American fifth column it is.

For the past three-plus decades the radical left has filled faculty, staff, and administration positions in colleges and universities large and small.

At the same time, conservative instructors have been shunned, fired, or denied tenure as a result of their ideology. Conservative students, as well, have been harassed and jeered into silence by campus leftists while administrators have looked on.

Now, pretending to be "peace" activists, campus radicals are attacking anyone who believes the United States has a right to defend itself. Their tactics - scorn, ridicule, smears, threats - get carte blanche from collusive administrations.

A memorial at Cal-Berkeley to commemorate the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States turned into a "blame America" rally. When conservative speakers rose to decry the attack on this country they were jeered and booed.

Organizers of the memorial originally demanded no American flags be flown or patriotic music - including God Bless America and the Star Bangle Banner - played.

I have witnessed first hand the destructive power of the left. I know well how professors and lecturers can intimidate and influence young minds. All we need to recall is how wrong the left was about communism to understand how wrong they are today about the Islamic radicals who are committed to their cause and fueled by their hatred of America.

Please help me raise the $134,500 needed to pay for this first series of advertisements in 50 college newspapers.

Please click here to make a contribution now of $35, $50 or, if possible, $100 to support the Center for the Study of Popular Culture.

I can't begin to fully describe how much I appreciate your steadfast support. Together we must continue to face the leftists on and off our campuses and within our own government who "blame America first" for every ill in the world today.

I am more determined than ever to expose the anti-American "peace movement" sham, and with your help now, we'll take a giant step forward in that process. Thank you.

Sincerely,

David Horowitz
President & Founder

P.S. Lawmakers, who hold real power over schools through budget appropriations, must recognize that what is going on at the colleges and universities they fund with your tax dollars is wrong. And instead of rubber-stamping left-wing hate America agendas, we want legislators to demand equal opportunity for conservative voices to be heard, or schools will face cuts in their funding!

Please help me spread the message with a contribution of $35, $50, or $100 today. Simply click here to make your online contribution now on our secure website! Thanks again.

Bump to the top. This didn't get anywhere near enough play. Horowitz was just on Bob Grant and mentioned this ad. This is something concrete we can do to thwart the campus marxists.

To run an ad like this in your average college newspaper costs somewhere on the order of $80-$150 depending on the circulation.

Why not run one in the paper of your Alma Mater?

And bump to all your lists!

Who will be the one to let David Horowitz (whom I greatly admire) know that his ad says Star BANGLE Banner? I guess I'll e-mail at the TownHall.com site. :-)

For an ad that's supposed to persuade people who haven't made up their minds, there should be more facts and less name-calling. Calling these bozos the "hate America left", while accurate, isn't going to convince anyone who wasn't already convinced. I'd like to see the ad expose the peace movement's connections to Marxist groups like ANSWER, and point out their hypocrisy of remaining silent while Clinton was lobbing missiles around the globe with far weaker justifications than we have for attacking Iraq.

Of course the "peace movement" isn't about "peace", it is about MIR the old Soviet/Communist idea of "the struggle for peace", a word which also means "world" or "coummunity" in Russian. It is shorthand for the Communist revolution to take over the whole world. These guys are still at it, but have gone stealth and moved from the Soviet Union to the US. More fun to take over the world from the US than the dreary USSR...

Hillary & Hollywood are in the vanguard now!
