Like many here, I am sometimes frustrated by what goes on in Pakistan. But I have to give credit to the government. It has performed admirably in capturing terrorists in spite of vehement public opposition.

Bump.

Hopefully they will be thoroughly "interogated" at some discrete location like Diego Garcia.

>>The two men, who were about to leave for Dublin on a Qatar Airways flight<<

Who or what is in Dublin for them?

Dublin, eh? Perhaps they read about how easy it was for some Irish Commies to attack and damage a US Navy aircraft that had stopped over for refueling.

Neutral Ireland debates U.S. military flights as anti-war protester takes ax to plane

I'm sure the Islam-o-bombers would love to blow up a transport plane.

The IRA, a group that just loves to send explosive messages to British military and political entities. Pure speculation on my part.

Or they could just be wanting a few pints of Guinness before catching a connecting flight.

Who is Kahn?

He's the arch enemy of James Tiberius Kirk.

Two suspected prominent al Qaeda operatives have been arrested at Lahore Airport and will be handed over to the United States

And tommy daschle and the Party of Fools still insist we're losing the "war on terror".

Nice post coop.

captured by Pakistani authorities on Tuesday after U.S. officials provided information about them, intelligence officials said.

Kudos to our intel folks, hard at work both in the field and behind windowless walls.

That's because there's a clear divide in Pakistan between Musharraf and his immediate supporters in the military and the interior ministry, who recognize that al-Qaeda is a threat to them (in the sense that they want to knock them off), the ISI, and what the people want.

Amen to that. Seems they are shedding the 'forced PC' culture imbued upon them by Clinton.

I've never recognized exactly where the divide is (although I take your word for it), but it's evident by the mixed messages and sometimes strange behavior. But I've been more pleased than not lately, and I wonder just how much cooperation is going on behind the scenes.

Dublin, huh? My hunch about that renewed IRA cooperation seems to be more reasonable with each passing day...So, I'll ask again. Was Toon just looking for a "peace" legacy, or was he carrying messages and making introductions to the IRA?

BTW, my guess is that Hussein is either Iraqi or related to Arafat, or both.

Well, I recall a bomb expert last spring claiming that pipe bombs used to booby trap buildings in Jenin were similar in detail to ones used in Northern Ireland. The expert believed that Palestinian bombmakers must have directly trained by IRA bombmakers.

Back in the day the Evil Empire used to host "symposia," or arrange "lecture tours," so terrorists from different parts of the globe could share their expertise. It would seem that sufficient ties were formed in that area that cooperation now continues without Soviet sponsorship.

Are you pretty certain about that?

after U.S. officials provided information about them

Or did we make him an offer he couldn't refuse?
