To a Briton these people are recognisable as being the "Dad's Army" (Home Guard) of Iraq - a token force of resistance, more for show than for actual use. A closer historical parallel is the Volksturm, which was the last line of defence for Nazi Germany too - and got crushed.

The whole rabbits thing is odd. I guess that they are using Monty Python and the Holy Grail as a training video.

Actually, I'd give the Volkssturm a plus over these guys...we aren't about to do anything near what the Russians pulled in Germany in 1945..That motivated the Volkssturm in SPADES. At least in the east..

What I would love to know is-are we having any success in helping stage a coup or otherwise have Saddam and sons assasinated? Some of the insiders must be feeling a bit nervous at this point. Saddam is getting old and feeble minded and I doubt any would take a bullet for Uday.
