Reform? I don't think thats what the Governor and Willie Brown have in mind: Davis backs Brown to head pension fund.

Interesting....notice that there is no mention of where those jumping execs landed? One of them, Kayla Gillian, the former counsel, ended up on the new Accounting Oversight Board. I wonder if she was questioned about her organization's practices before she was asked to serve.

Considering Hillary's cattle futures excursion and MacAuliffe's Global Crossing windfall, and many others I am sure we know nothing about at the moment, I suspect that the Dems were the driving force in the stock market bubble which made the economy seem to be much more robust than it was. They were behind the change in generally accepted accounting practices that allowed all these shenanigans and, as much as they decry the rich, they are up to their necks in behind the scenes exploitation of corporations. Also consider that when the U.S.S.R. collapsed Bush 42 sent Robert Strauss, a leading behind the scenes Democrat, over there to shephard the change from Communism to free enterprise. (Although Strauss was a Democrat he did have a good reputation for honeesty and class, unlike today's Dems.)Shortly after Bush lost, Clinton sent a liberal team from Harvard over there to teach them the ropes. What they really taught them was how to do the things they, the Dems, were doing - a short course in self-dealing. That almost killed the Russian revolution in its tracks and helped establish the Russian mafia.

The liberals seem to think what they say about greedy big business is true and they darn sure intend to get their fair share of the spoils. Unfortunately, what they think about business is false and their misconception is killing the golden goose. But, maybe they are not misguided but instead intend to kill free enterprise and install their heaven on earth communist state and make a killing in the process. What they seem to be missing is that once they control everything money will mean nothing as there will be nothing worthwhile to buy and society will be a living Hell. What pleasure is there in ruling a land fill?

Now I am beginning to wonder if the various state PERS have all been doing some looting or whatnot. Here in PA, the AG has subpoenaed records about how the PERS makes its decisions, they are stonewalling and claiming he does not have the authority to look at their records.

I'm sure this will get the same continuous, cover-story-on-every-magazine, "outraged" coverage that the Enron scandal did.

Not.

A Bloomberg News report indicated that in the spring of last year, the board directed that $100 million be invested in Premier Pacific Vineyards. Coincidentally the co-CEO of Premier Pacific happened to be a major fundraiser for Governor Grey Davis - who under California law appoints three members to the CalPERS board.

Wonder if it was these same hypocrites that were decrying the Oracle contract last year?

Governor Davis should make clear, serious reform of the way CalPERS does business a top oriority for his second term.

Like education, the power crisis, and the budget deficit were top priorities.

As a state employee with my only retirement in CalPERS, I think we should definitely do something about this.
