'Witch hunt'
Fresno Bee (Online) ^ | (Published Tuesday, February 11, 2003, 7:00 AM) | By Saundra Duffy; Senate District Director, California Republican Assembly, Fresno

I am absolutely appalled at the un-American treatment Steve Samuelian is receiving from the media and some opportunistic Republicans. We have come to expect the media to exploit a story; that's their job. However, for influential Republicans to pile on without so much as a phone call to Assemblyman Samuelian is unconscionable.

Stopping at a gas station to get directions may be illegal in Cuba or Iraq, but this is America! The assemblyman committed no crime. The "thought police" are apparently making the rounds in Fresno deciding what they think people might be thinking. This is scary, folks.

This apparent scheme to "get" Assemblyman Samuelian reeks of filthy political shenanigans, and the assemblyman's enemies apparently have some friends in the press. The liberal media not liking a conservative Republican -- imagine that.

This whole thing smelled fishy from the get go. FYI - The Mercury News today ran a little spot on it but made no mention of an arrest or even a citation.

But why are the GOP vultures circling over this non-issue? Jealousy, vengeance, ego? I just wish the salivating detractors could find something more constructive to do.

Assemblyman Samuelian deserves better; he has been in the trenches for years, working hard to get other Republicans elected. I stand shoulder to shoulder with this fine, hard-working family man.

I implore the good citizens of Assembly District 29 to show their support for Assemblyman Samuelian. Join me in urging the perpetrators of this witch hunt to cease and desist from their persecution of Steve and his family.

He should be in the DemocRAT Party. Republicans do not solicit prostitutes in sleazy neighborhoods.

Here ya go...

CA: Fellow Republicans seek assemblyman's resignation

Fresno assemblyman pulled over for soliciting a prostitute

A whole lot of folks including the media took a lot of creative license in their portrayal of what transpired, if anything. I wonder why?

Stopping at a gas station to get directions

Did he forget the directions he got in 1998?

In 1998, Samuelian was cited for that violation on the same stretch of Parkway Drive.

Then where do they go to solicit prostitutes? You usually don't find them in the better neighborhoods.

Another sicko Leftist trying to twist the truth, blaming the Right for Thought Police. Has anyone else noticed this trend lately? Anyone intercept the latest Fascist fax from the DNC?

He drove down a street and asked for directions at a gas station. That's it! That's the whole story. Sheeeesh.

Here's my email to the 5 GOP holier-than-thou creeps who demanded that Steve resign, and they hadn't even bothered to talk to Steve, and may I remind you all that Steve has not been charged with anything. What are they going to charge him with? He didn't do anything except drive on a street in Fresno. Here's my letter:

Parsons, Radanovich, Duncan, Der Manoel & Nunes - Just a quick question. Why are you so eager to see Samuelian resign from the Assembly when NOT ONE of you demanded Nicole Parra's resignation even though we all know she bought/stole her Assembly seat (hint - voter fraud)? Oh, I forgot, Parra is a democrat, and you'd have to defend a conservative Republican, Navy Veteran Dean Gardner. Silly me.

I think you should all resign from your positions for exhibiting a lynch-mob mentality and for using the most despicable judgment imaginable. I am happy for two fair-minded Republicans who refused to jump on your witch hunt band wagon - Mayor Autry and Shawn Steele. Meanwhile, the very least you can do is apologize to Assemblyman Samuelian, to his friends, family and constituents.

Sincerely,
Saundra Duffy

(What did he do?) - He drove down a street in Fresno and stopped at a gas station and asked for directions. That's it! No, I'm not kidding. Then the GOP vultures descended from on high and accused him of soliciting a prostitute. It's sick. Meanwhile, California is going to the dogs. Democraps rule absolutely and the Republicans are busy worrying about the sex thoughts of other Republicans. If it weren't so tragic it would be hilarious . . . but I'm not laughing. Steve Samuelian is a staunch conservative. Guess that's the rub. For victory & freedom!!!

LOL.
I can admire a good rant or hissy fit, but...

I can't take anybody seriously who can ramble on about an object of outrage and manage to fail to define the subject entirely.

(I left my ouija board in my other suit alert!)

Thanks for that Publius. I'd like a bit better explanation. Even rabid democrats, feeding-frenzied GOPers and left-wing media types don't normally fabricate career ending stories. Something must have happened...does anyone know the details?
