Bill introduced in Tennessee to allow election day registration!

Rep. Mike Turner of Tennessee, has introduced a bill into the General Assembly that would allow election day registration of voters. Two years ago, Mike Turner introduced a bill that was later passed that allowed illegal aliens to get driver's licenses in Tennessee.

Critics at the time complained that the law would give illegal aliens the ability to get government services to which they are not entitled and to illegally register to vote. They were assured that this would not be the case as the Tennessee driver's licenses would not have a social security number on them.

However, in an effort to further garner support from the Hispanic community in Nashville, Mike Turner has introduced a bill to allow election day voter registration in Tennessee where the only ID required is a Tennessee driver's license and a document verifing your address.

The Rats are not going down easily. It appears that they are willing to destroy the entire election system in an effort to retain power.

HOUSE BILL 18
By Turner (Dav)
AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 2, Chapter 2 and Title 2, Chapter 7, to enact the "Tennessee Election Day Registration Act".
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Tennessee Election Day Registration Act".

(1) Many individuals are unable to vote on election day because of inefficiencies and mistakes in the voter registration system.
(2) Precincts with predominantly minority populations are most affected by inaccurate voting rolls.
(3) Election day registration would increase voter participation in elections, which strengthens our democratic institutions.
(4) Election day registration has been successfully tested in a number of states.
(b) This act is enacted to improve the state’s election process, enfranchise voters, and increase the participation of Tennessee citizens in its government.

(A) Appearing in person at the polling place for the precinct in which the individual maintains residence.
(B) Completing a registration form, making an oath in the prescribed form.
(C) Providing proof of residence.
(2) An individual may prove residence for purposes of registering by showing any of the following items listing a valid address in the precinct:
(A) A Tennessee driver’s license or identification card issued by the department of safety.
(B) A lease or utility bill together with a government issued photo identification card.
(C) A student identification card from a postsecondary educational institution in Tennessee accompanied by a current student fee statement.
(3) Election day registration provided in this subsection shall apply to all elections conducted in this state, including national, state, municipal, and school district elections.

Hopefully honest TN folks will create as much public outrage on same day election registration as you guys did on the state income tax issue. Perhaps TN Freepers ought send this article to Nashville talk show host Phil Valentine. If the insane bill passes, could it be repealed through a voter referendum like the lottery? Same day voter registration was soundly defeated last year by the voters in liberal CA. Thus, opposition to same day voter registration is a position that is maintstream, and not racist.

MN has same day voter registration for many years. Below is a link to an article that shows the loopholes that the 'RATS will use to steal elections.

and.......they should have to physically show up, no more absentees. Count the military on the spot, and send them in as a whole.

I sent it to Phil yesterday and his show was all about it. This morning Steve Gill (morning conservative talk show host) is ranting about it. Word is getting out.

With electronic data transfer, there is no reason that the military could not have their own voting booths with the results being sent back to the individual members' home states as soon as the election is over. (It may not be practical for every local election but there is no reason that it can't be done for national elections.)

Mike Turner's response to my protest of his bill:

THE BILL AS FILED IS NOT THE BILL WE SHALL END UP WITH, WE ARE STILL
DRAFTING THE LANGUAGE FOR IT AND WILL AMEND IT IN THE COMMITTEE. OUR
INTENTION IS TO ENCOURAGE AN INCREASE VOTER PARTICIPATION THE BILL WILL ALSO
HAVE EXTREME PENALTIES FOR VOTER FRAUD, SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION BUT WITH THE
BILL FILING DEADLINE WE HAD TO GET SOMETHING IN THE SYSTEM. THANKS FOR THE
E-MAIL, MIKE.

I-emailed this to Phil Valentine. If you want to read my original letter to Mike, it's post #20 above: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/845165/posts/#20

Voter fraud laws are a joke and Turner knows it. Ask Mike Turner when the last time ANYONE in Tennessee was prosecuted for voter fraud.

The DL bill for illegal aliens was passed with ways to increase voter fraud in mind.

I expected to read that the legislator who introduced this was a member of the Ford family, and resided in Memphis.
