When he has warned the President for almost 2 years now in Private and now public?

How do you know for a fact he warned the President in private?

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reports that the alleged terrorists were running influence operations to penetrate the US political system and influence policy.

The news confirms what the Center for Security Policy has warned the Bush administration - first privately and later publicly - for nearly two years: That the architects of the White House's well-meaning Muslim outreach program paid little or no regard to national security issues, and ignored information about alleged extremists, including supporters of terrorism, who had hijacked the administration's initiative.

Frank did...........

I remember during the election that everyone knew that GW had a drinking problem in his youth. Then the hit about the DUI the weekend before the election. I was at a gun show that weekend. I don't know how many times I heard "Why didn't he say anything about it?". That is when I knew the election was going to be really close and there was a possibily of loss.
I think this will come back to bite GW in much the same way. He needs to repudiate and fast.
Gaffney...Norquist...I don't think GW listens to anyone like that. I think he has a kind heart and wants to think that Islam is good. Much like the leadership and brokers of the black community, the same powers that be in the Islamic community are equally suspect.

There were alot of reasons why it was a close election, but I'm not sure that had a big impacted on it.

It was just a last minute cheap shot from the Dems.

And it worked. Can we have another fundraiser? A lot more fun. Not much at debate. I do think this is serious in the context of the next election. I hope GW is a chess player.

"...(oil and potential votes rule)..."

Don't forget those thousands of dollars in campaign contributions.

The Bush family receives $10s of thousands in campaign contributions from Puerto Rico.

If that's enough for Bush to throw our Navy off of Vieques in spite of Puerto Rican, Molotov Cocktail throwing, terrorists trying to kill our Naval servicemen and women, imagine what kind of immunity this guy's money will buy from Bush.

He's being snapped at by the Howlin Posse -- and they ain't adding anything, just argument, no content, no logic.

Their big argument seems to be that it's old news.

Case law is clear that, for a treason charge to succeed, the enemy that is given aid and comfort has to be at war with the United States. And the mens rea requirement for criminal charges would seem to add to that that the prosecution has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant knew or at least had good reason to know that the enemy in question was at war with the United States.

I'm not sure a court would even agree that the Wahhabis are at war with us, but it seems virtually certain to me that it would not agree that beyond a reasonable doubt Norquist knew that they were.

So, a treason charge is a no go.

And the Norquist lunches from which Gaffney was expelled at the beginning of this month still seem to be considered a big deal. Maybe they won't be from now on.

What's more, the vociferousness with which Norquist is defended here on FR also suggests he retains a lot of influence.

I take it you're saying one or more White House aides might have refused to pass on Gaffney's warnings. Don't you think there should be some consequence for them now, in that case?
