They won't feel an immediate impact, for several reasons.

A majority of cars are leased. True for me, at this time.

And mine is German. And I am VERY SERIOUSLY considering boycotting German cars. But it is 20 months in the future.

For me, it is a big deal, for I love their hardware. But I may settle for American, British, Japanese or Swedish substitutes.

For me it is a SACRIFICE, because there aren't really any substitutes for German cars.

,,, leasing is something that occurs after market. Whether it's leased or owned, that aspect is irrelevant after the car hits US soil and has generated an export receipt isn't it? - even if the lessor is the manufacturer's finance company.

Also, another consideration for a firm like VW who are churning out Beetles for my market from Mexico, is that Mexico's labour force will suffer before Germany's does.
