Kilmeade Rocks

Posted on 02/25/2003 6:06:16 AM PST by William McKinley

I apologize for this vanity, but for those who just missed Brian Kilmeade absolutely tearing into the leftist propaganda of Janeane Garofalo, did you miss a treat.

The highlight, to me was when he said why should Americans give you credibility merely because you are an actress. She replied, what does what my profession is have to do with anything. His reply:

"It's the only reason you are here."

It was great, I wish it could have gone on but Fox and Friends was over.

These are the times that I wish I was a pundit on TV.

My reply to the naive Ms. Garafalo would be simple and to the point.

Would she trust her life to Saddam Hussein or George Bush?

And if we did nothing to protect ourselves proactively like the great stainmaker, would she trade places with one of the victims in the WTC on Sept 11th?

She was creamed by Brian. He kept firing her questions before she could go off on one of those typical socialist rants about this and that. She could not handle it and was looking this way and that way for an exit. Rolling of the eyes indicate arrogance and when he confronted her on her being a celeb, she lost it. Brian hit the nail on the head and she didnt like it. Typical of the socialists, they cant stand being confronted with facts nor can they answer questions straight up.

I'm also somewhat surprised that the the weather guy just sat there and offered Ms. Garofalo a cup of coffee.

I think Steve Doocy knew that Brian was doing a great job and just got out of the way. His job was to keep Garofolo in her seat so she wouln't storm out. Steve's a great guy.

Brian got in a great zinger by calling attention to the fact that the only reason Garofalo was on the show was because she's a celebrity, but he needed more sharp ones like that. Garofalo needed to be challenged, but he did it in a belligerent, argumentative way that made her look more reasoned by comparison. His tactics were wrong. The "Did you read this, did you read that?" tactic for one was unwise, since none of us can keep abreast of everything, and admittedly Garofalo was right in her response to that. I say get rid of Brian -- and doofy Steve Doocey -- and give the morning show to Lauren Green, E.D. and another guy who has more class like Lauren and E.D. have.

I deliberately turned it OFF before it started -- I figured those lightweight hosts bantering back and forth would make it nothing more than a fluff piece where she would get to spew her leftist anti-war crap with little or no challenge from the hosts. I just got cable this month so don't know all the Fox personalities yet, except the big ones like Brit, Tony, etc.

(BTW - did anyone see Brit's interview last night with Juan regarding Juan's new book on faith? I was impressed with what Juan has done and he is knowledgeable about black history and the impact of Christianity in helping that race get through the slavery, segregation and racism trials they endured here in America. I laughed at one point when Juan addressed Brit as "Sir".)

You mean they were in the studio together and Brian went face to face with her? Awesome!

Semper fi!

Gallagher said he was going to get some sound bites. Can't wait to hear them.

I'm sure if the troops in Kuwait saw the exchange, they were root'n for Brian.

His visit with the troops has really wound him up. They ought to rotate Neil Cavuto in with the Fox & Friends cast. He rates right up there in fire power with Brian and E.D. I'd like to see Neil and Brian interview Chirac.

"She said that it was not hip to protest during clinton's administration."

I missed that somehow, but I would like to see her proof about a statement she made the other day that Susan Sarandon was out in front protesting Clinton's bombing of Iraq in 1998.

She also said the other day that, "now that I'm sober, I watch the news all the time".

Yeah, I saw this. Just another "debate" that is really a shouting match where whoever behaves the most ill-mannered and yells loudest "wins", while the so-called "moderator" sits there and does nothing to ensure that the discussion stays on some kind of track and the two participants respond to each other instead of changing the subject each time they hear something they don't want to respond to. I give the kudos to Jeanne Garofalo not by force of argument, but purely on the basis that she's better mannered.

And the line about "Why should we listen to you, you're just a celebrity" - while I fully agree with the spirit of the statement, the reality is that it's a great way to change the focus from the substance of an argument to the person making it, thus neatly avoiding having to actually debate the issue. "Why do you think you're here?" - inviting someone to debate an issue, and then attacking the basis on which they were invited instead of discussing the issue that they were invited there to debate is also a great sidetrack to change the focus from the issue, and quite rude besides. If you don't want to feed the celebrity machine, then don't invite them.

She kept going on about how Fox is a right-wing propaganda branch of the government

Really? There is nothing right wing about our government. This proves that she and her people believe their own lies.

I must respectfully disagree. Brian & Steve are very intelligent conservative guys. Their sense of humor may not be to your liking, but they are really great at delivering the news in the entertaining format of the Fox & Friends show.

Also, I wish E.D. had been there this morning to get the trio back together. I'm sure she would have had some good shots at Garofolo.

I saw it and loved it. Kilmeade was great. I've seen Garafalo before and I would give her credit for appearing on Fox and not staying on more friendly territory except all she did was spew what magazines she reads. She puts on her glasses and pretends to be some intellectual who reads "The Economist" and to her that gives her credability.
Kilmeade challenged her and she failed.

Boo-hoo... My station doesn't pick up Gallagher until 10:00 am. I hope he talks about it in the next hour. I'm sure Mike loved the interview.

Yeah, E.D. would have been fun to watch. She's a Texan... and she don't take no gruff. Just ask her husband(s)!

=) hehehe
