Can somebody please post a picture of Dan Rather in this thread so that we can make fun of it?

Oops, wrong sympathizer.

Good Lord!

I'm listening to Jay Severin at the moment, and apparently, CBS gave Hussein almost full creative control over this interview. As Jay put it, CBS has basically given Hussein free reign to produce a pro-Hussein propaganda piece for consumption by American audiences. If this does not define "aid and comfort," it is pretty f***ing close!

As if they'd say otherwise. If it was cut, do ya think for a second they would just trash it? Or come out and say, "Well, they did edit it, but we're gonna show it anyway"? No, they'd say "It doesn't appear to be edited." Which is what they did. And the chances are so much greater that CBS lied than that Iraq didn't cut the interview that, for me, I am convinced that is exactly what happened.

"I will not watch cbs for this interview"

We never, ever watch cbs. There is nothing on that network that does not offend us, especially "mad Dan" Rather. I urge all FReepers to take cbs out of your life. Once it is gone, you really don't miss it.

There was a story yesterday that the Iraq information guys were editing the tape before CBS could have it.

CBS says Iraqi officials editing tapes of Dan Rather interview with Saddam Hussein

Soddom proposed debating former President Bush on the eve of Gulf War I as well. Old dog, old tricks.

Funny how Dan didn't wear one of 60 Minutes' undercover cameras. Maybe they should have sent Connie Chung instead and told them "what can you tell me, off the record...".

If the Iraqis have nothing to hide, then they should welcome our journalists to have unrestrained access to interview footage.

Does our government have restrictions on intervention in world politicking by unelected (or unappointed) American citizens?

Can I go to visit "Uncle" Saddam and kiss his armpits and talk about the peace movement in the US without be considered a traitor consorting with the enemy?

CBS (in general) and Dan Blather (and specifically) is a Leftist Scourge, they must feel really poroud of themselves again and I'm sure Hillary Rotten already has her own copy of Tonights Show, which no one I know is going to watch. Frankly, I'm surprised the Senator wasn't sitting there in Iraq next to Mr. Blather, instead of echoing the blatant misrepresentations about Mr. Estrada.Dan Blather another Anti-American. I noticed he 'suggested/put forward' the word "Debate" to Hussein in the ads I've seen. He's still a scrawny S.O.B., who deserves a serious freep someday, ala the Texas guy giving Pee-tuh Lemmings grief on TV, 1 or 2 years ago..."Well we don't like you around here"! Still LOL about that incident

>>CBS made a new offer on Wednesday, Genelius said. "If the president, the vice president or Secretary of State (Colin) Powell would like to appear on the program tonight we would be happy to have them appear on the program," Genelius said.

Absolutely breathtaking arrogance.

President Bush will be giving a televised speech tonight at 7PM. No sense in appearing just on CBS-Viacom when so many of us are boycotting that network.

"I - did not - have - weapons - of - mass - destruction - in - violation - of - the - 17 UN treaties! Now let me get back to my job of looking out for the future of the Iraqi children."

Rather trusted the words of a man who lied under oath, too.

Who owns CBS?

Viacom, the same people that paid Hillary $8million for a book that has yet to come out. She was paid before she took elected office but after she was elected, and claims that she did not violate Senate ethics because she was not yet a Senator.

Viacom also is the network that edited the tribute concert for the firemen and policement of New York so that their booes of Hillary became CHEERS.

In Gulf War I, I remember when Saddam fired a Scud at Israel and it landed in Tel Aviv. The CBS reporter in Tel Aviv was at the scene. He had a live audio feed with Rather, who was at the CBS anchor desk. Rather was grilling the reporter about the exact location that the Scud had hit. The CBS reporter said that he didn't want to give the location because it would help Iraq targetting. Rather spent most of a minute trying to get him to reveal his exact location, practically begging him to give the name of the neighborhood the missile hit.

The CBS reporter, to his credit, consistently refused to say where he was. Probably lost his job for it.

Did anyone else see this?
