GRETNA (AP) -- A uniformed security guard at Armstrong International Airport was arrested on one count of extortion Wednesday after allegedly trying to shake down a man who had a gun in his car.
Telita Arnolie, an employee with L&R Security, found a firearm in a man's car while performing a routine vehicle inspection at the airport, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies said.
Although officials said that having the gun in the car was not a violation, Arnolie allegedly told the man she'd arrest him if he didn't pay her $40.
Chief Deputy Newell Normand said the man gave Arnolie $20 and she decided to let him go.
The man reported the incident to the airport as soon as he got home, Normand said.

The example of United Flight 93 is the main thing preventing further hijackings. Everything else is just "feel good" measures.

Well, that didn't take too long to surface. I wonder how much longer until we have the airport-security equivalent of the Postal Inspectors. Just add another layer . . .
I give the traveller credit for haggling the price down to $20 . . .

Welcome to the new police state.
I bet that this guard will not be fired. She's probably on paid leave now.

The Federalized security is there to help the traveler. A twenty dollar bribe to get through airport security is peanuts. With ethnic profiling twenty dollars should get the terrorist through the gates, as well. It just makes you feel so safe, knowing that the security is taken care of.

What?! No pictures, no accurate description of the perp?
I want to know if her ancestors were not from Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Finland, or any other such place.

The system works remarkably well. Americans are not like the rest of the world, where money buys them justice. She was arrested and removed from her job. In almost any other country she would be expected to give a cut of her bribes in order to forget about it. Here, showing money to the police would have gotten her an additional charge.

Why are you trying to bring race into the discussion?
Because it's relevant?

How so? The article makes no mention of race at all. Let's ask the moderator to confirm whether race is germane to the discussion.

Why are you trying to bring race into the discussion? Not at all. I'm mocking the politically correct types that think a photo, or a description of the perp (including skin color), is racist.
I guess that makes me wrong.
So be it.

Why should you expect that there be any photos or 'an accurate description of the perp' when she is in custody already? Why should her ancestors matter to you or anyone at all?

I'll repeat. Very s-l-o-w-l-y, so you will (hopefully) understand the second time around.
I'm mocking the politically correct types that think a photo, or a description of the perp (including skin color), is racist.
Are you one of those politically correct types?
