Forgive my lack of information, but what is illegal about sending money to Iraq? (I'm sure many citizens send donations to charities there, to families there, etc.) Is this something we can use to stop the $30B that is sent to Mexico every year?

Federal prosecutors charged him on Wednesday with conspiring to violate U.S. economic sanctions against Iraq through a charity called Help the Needy. *sigh* I only had to read one more line...

If I recall correctly, "Help the needy" is an organization that has been put on the list of groups that sponser terrorism.

"American prisons... The new "hate-America" breeding ground." But it's not new.
Jesse Jackass has been trolling in the prisons around the country for years getting the felons registered to vote DemocRAT.
The base of the DemocRAT party is composed of all the base mentalities in society.

This widespread and dangerous phenomenon of jailhouse "conversions" to "Islam" needs more careful watching and appropriate action.
We could seal up our borders and still be in jeopardy from an enemy within, made up of quasi-Muslims who are not only ignorant about true Islam but have joined a corrupted form thereof on the basis of their alienation from and hatred of that which they consider to be "white" society....

This brings up a point that has ben my pet peeve with the Republican party. While most Republican positions are good sense positions there is a tendency to be "exclusive", or "if your not for us your against us". This is the only reason that Democrats as a viable party are able to exist. Our justice system which is driven by the dogmatic phrase "tough on crime" and politicians trying to score easy points against people with no political influence keep giving the underclasses (not just Black but all underrepresented groups)the impression that the Republican party is out to destroy them and deny them their rights as citizens. Many of the "crimes" these people are incarcerated for are nonvictim crimes and they have been singled out not because they have done another wrong but because others don't aprove of their way of life (drugs, prostitution, etc). Then, when they have paid their debt to society they are still segregated and not allowed to participate in the financial or political life of the country. This breaking up of America and rejection of so many from society makes it inevitable that some other kind of social identity will take the place of their American identity. This sucks. We should be normalizing these people and integrating them into mainstream society. The balkanization of America is a real problem and conservatives have to strive for inclusion not exclusion. I believe that conservatives are the most practical of political groups. Let's take a more sensible and idealistic approach to these fellow citizens and show the world that "Compasionate Conservatism isn't an oxymoron or just a funny punchline on the Tonight Show.

The vast majority of Muslim prison chaplain are Wahhabists.
When will we wake up and realize that Islam is NOT peaceful?

You make some exceedingly good points, and I wish that we as a nation could effectively address the root causes -- social, demographic, economic, judicial, etc. -- of social alienation.
That said, it still remains an unfortunate reality that we are providing within our correctional system a veritable incubator for the rise of an illegitimate and perverse variant of a major religion....

Forgive my lack of information, but what is illegal about sending money to Iraq? A 1990 executive order signed by former President Bush forbids Americans from transferring money or goods to the Iraqi government or its people, directly or indirectly. Humanitarian agencies can send funds only with the approval of the U.S. Government. "Help the Needy" didn't have that approval.
