About ten years ago a FedEx plane was nearly hijacked by a disgruntle employee, who planned to crash it into one of their corporate buildings. I think it was their HQ in Memphis. The pilot and co-pilot had fight off the stowaway. As I recall, the pilot was seriously injured when he was hit in the head with a hammer by the would-be hijacker. The would be hijacker was, I think, a flight crew member, but not assigned to that flight. I recall he was armed with a spear gun, a hammer, and maybe some other implements.

It was FedEx Flight 705.

The story of that heroic flight crew is told in the book Hijacked: The True Story of the Heroes of Flight 705.

The aircraft was a FedEx DC-10.
