An American man may face charges after he apparently shot his laptop computer in frustration after it kept crashing.
George Doughty a 48-year-old from Lafayette, Colorado, was working in an office when he walked next door into the bar he owned and announced to patrons that he was going to shoot his laptop computer, local newspapers said.
Mr Doughty then reportedly warned customers to cover their ears, before shooting the laptop four times.
He later hung the hapless computer on his bar wall in the style of a hunting trophy, police said.
'It seemed appropriate'
Local police said that the only similar case they had seen before involved a computer shot with a rifle by a man whose wife had claimed it in a divorce settlement.
"It's sort of funny, because everybody always threatens their computers," police officer from the Lafayette police department Rick Bashor told local newspapers.
"[But] it's the first time someone shot a computer because he was upset with it."
Police added that because Mr Doughty put customers and the bartender in danger, he was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing, reckless endangerment and prohibited use of weapons, before being released to appear in court on a later date.
Mr Doughty admitted in police reports that he should not have shot his laptop, but said that at the time it had seemed appropriate.

Too bad it wasn't filmed. It would have been even better than that clip that was floating around on the internet a couple of years ago of the guy in an office cubicle freaking out and destroying his computer. (I know, it may have been fake, but I enjoyed it all the same)

Well, this is serendipitous. Right now I'm fixing my registry on one of my computers. I'm on the line with a tech from Microsoft (he's in India, that's where all the jobs went), and we're working through the problems one at a time. That being said, five years ago I might have done the same thing.

I've learned that shutting it off, then turning it on again later, and HITTING IT SEVERAL times works REALLY well. (Most of the time.) I must have a masochistic computer!

two weeks ago i "painted" a smiley face on an HP printer with my .22LR target rifle. i gave it a 30m head start.
it was a fulfilling experience. i highly recommend it.

Ever see Office Space? Where they take the printer/fax machine and beat the crap out of it with a bat? Similar and equally classic scene.
Last year I took my old desktop out and plinked away with my .22 for a while, then gave it two mags worth of 9mm rapid-fire. Nothing in the world was more satisfying.

Years ago there was a security video of an alleged IRS employee smashing his computer in his cubicle. I will admit that watching the tape had a cathartic effect.

I love that movie. After seeing it, me and some coworkers smuggled out a difficult shared office printer and threw it into the Ohio River from an interstate bridge...

LOL. i saw just (and only) that scene a couple weeks ago!!
further, (whoa, gmta moment) after i was done adorning this particular varmint HP with the .22, i unloaded several mags of 147gr 9mm into the beast using mama's SIG. that was followed up with a box of .357mag. buh bye.
on the other hand, range rules required i clean it up when i was done. what a mess. glad i didn't bring out the big guns.
