TO MY FELLOW CHRISTIANS: THE FLAG IS AN IDOL!
Flag Or The Cross? ^

Posted on 03/14/2003 8:03:57 PM PST by LalahLand

I am curious to find out why some of my fellow Christians still recite the pledge of allegiance. When you "pledge your allegiance" to an inanimate object you are basically worshipping that object. Am I missing something here? Why do some of us choose to salute and break one of the most important commandments? Shouldn't our pledge of allegiance be to God, and not a piece of cloth? The pledge of allegiance to the flag basically states that we will (blindly) support the flag and the actions of our government without question. That is the very essence of what idolatry is all about! Please check out the attached article.

idol SYLLABICATION: i·dol PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: dl KEY NOUN: 1a. An image used as an object of worship. b. A false god. 2. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.

idolatry SYLLABICATION: i·dol·a·try PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: -dl-tr KEY NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. i·dol·a·tries 1. Worship of idols. 2. Blind or excessive devotion to something.

Are you from Jahovia (spelling is wrong, I know) Witness? That is what they believe. I am NOT worshipping the flag, I am showing respect to it and my country. Will a pledge not a prayer, there is a difference.

Timing, presentation, and appropriateness matter. If you walked into the middle of a funeral, wedding, or sermon and demanded to right then and there debate a biblical issue, you wouldn't get the response you were seeking. Declaring patriots who love their country to be idol worshippers in Breaking News on a political website is not the way to get thoughtful discussion started.

What type of site is this?

An online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web.

I came here for intelligent discourse

What are ya, some kinda pervert? ;0) Oh... you said Discourse. My bad.

That being said, I think if you read Romans, and fully grasp what it says, you needn't worry about going to Hell just because you say the Pledge... :0)

What do you want? A dangerous One World government? That's the impression I got.

Utopia is a DREAM that depends on an ancient hierarchal physical body to continue. There IS a reason for jingoism and xenophobia, regardless of what the starry-eyed United Nations fan club members think. You CANNOT go to the local Lobotomies-R-Us and have that disgusting ancient animal part of the brain removed. You will NOT survive without it, figuratively and literally.

I am curious to find out why some of my fellow Christians still recite the pledge of allegiance.

Because we're not all Jahova Witnesses. (When you come to my door, I don't answer it).

Someone hacked into my account

Do you mean to say that you're not a transvestite rodeo cowboy who molests collies? Bummer - the truly deviant personalities are hard enough to study as it is. They so quickly either end up in prison or on the slab.

#1. I DO NOT appreciate being called un-Christian--for any reason. Do not judge and all that.

#2. The Bible- the real one- not the ones that J.W.'s use, will contradict everything you have been taught. I was there before, so I know. It is an eye-opener. I recommend the unedited King James Version.

#3. It is your post.....what did you really expect?

Yes..you are missing something here and it is something most important to be sure.

The pledge of allegiance is as follows:

I Pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands.

One nation UNDER GOD for liberty and justice for all.

My questions is this:

What part of UNDER GOD do you not understand about this pledge?

The pledge is to keep the faith to our fellow Americans and the Flag is a symbol of that faith to each of our fellow Americans. The reference that it be UNDER GOD is to ask GOD's blessings on our efforts to keep that faith under his watch and care.

Again...what part of that do you not understand please?

I say this to you... I will say this pledge in good faith that GOD understands that his blessings are asked each and everytime the pledge is made as long as the pledge includes the phrase "under GOD" as it should be.

I am also a Christian and this is very important to me as well and I did wear a uniform at a very unpopular time to do that.. "72 thru "76. The "UNDER GOD" part of the pledge means everything to me so let's keep it in there, shall we?

GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND,

RAWGUY

You have a small point but keep one thing in mind.

Most Christians (and not CINOs) realize that we have to keep our earthly allegiances to country. We pledge our allegiance to the flag; we pledge our souls to God.

We still hold no gods before God.

Forgot to add this one small point:
We also render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, out earthly patriotism and allegiance.

Umm, yeah, others can add keywords, though that is strongly discouraged by the moderators except for threads like these.
