Speak for yourself.
Daniel et al were taught all the wise man stuff of Babylon. Doesn't that stike you as at least interesting. Yet somehow, Daniel was never guilty of idolatry or violating God's will.
I don't think God would have a lot of respect for someone who wasn't willing to support and protect their own country.
There may be people who worship the flag though I've never heard of nor met any of them.
The Flag to me represents our essence, our best and our standards of Freedom etc. . . . along with our right to exist.
Yes, I'm also a citizen of God's green earth in a sense.
But more, one could say I'm a citizen of the Heavenly Kingdom. I'm clear about my priorities, loyalties etc. God knows that.
A man untrue to himself is a miserable hollow shell.
A man untrue to his family is worse than an infidel.
A man untrue to his community is selfish at best.
A man untrue to his State probably has little care or appreciation for the lessons of history.
A man untrue to his country threatens his own safety and livelihood and is fit for no support nor loyalties by much of anyone.
A man untrue to God is doomed.
Of course, IMHO.
