Top Senate democrats attacked President Bush today, for using excessive force against invading UN troops. Minority leader Tom Daschle responded to news of the President's plan to unleash the cub scouts: "I am frequently mistaken for a cub scout, so I know how frightening it must be for the poor ill-equipped UN troops to be faced with the prospect of being whipped by children. This is clearly a case of the President pursuing an imperialist military attack against poor people everywhere."
Outside the UN headquarters building in New York, cub scouts began to arrive by minivan, and could be seen taking positions around the parking lot. Armed with BB guns, slingshots, and suction cup arrows, the cub scouts appeared eager to answer the call to duty. A UN correspondent overheard conversations among huddled UN troops about filing a resolution to declare slingshots and BB guns to be weapons of mass destruction.
France, Germany, Russia and China joined together to call for inspecions of the cub scout weapons, and insisted that the US refrain from action until a UN resolution could be put forward and passed.
