"...and all other parts of Chicago...should all be under FBI surveillance, if they are not already."

They are.

"The view is that the war will cause more terrorism, and the resulting terrorism will cause more problems and oppression for the minority groups here," said Sharref Ali, an American-born Muslim.

He said the community in Paterson is "easy prey" both for hate crimes and for law enforcement officials targeting Arab-Americans in the aftermath of Sept. 11.

A translation is required here. Paterson is majority black, and the blacks are the ones who would be engaging in "hate crimes" against the Moslems.

Note too that Paterson has been named at least once, as the worst city in America, a dishonor it richly deserved.

"Some were dancing in the street on 9.11, muslim employees at St. Joseph's Hospital, Paterson, were seen smiling. The Passaic County Sheriff dispatched 80 officers to break up the dancing and to stop a potential riot. "

Really?

"Hyphenated Americans" - aren't. American, that is. Read Scalia.

"Gotta love 'em". I don't gotta - and I don't love 'em.

I seem to remember a Sikh being attacked somewhere.

They are much more visible because of the full beard and turban.

This is actually a good point. I do agree with your response re: multi-tasking, but even though I'm involved with multiple projects at work, I still have to show progress in all of them.

We may not be done, but we are showing progress. We've toppled the taliban, and we have so far captured several top level Al Qaeda members. And while Osama may still be at large, it would seem that we're gaining on him, and that his days are surely numbered.

I call that progress.

"If we keep the gates open and flowing freely we wont have much longer to worry about this."

That is the sad, ugly truth.

He said the community in Paterson is "easy prey" both for hate crimes and for law enforcement officials targeting Arab-Americans in the aftermath of Sept. 11.

Gee, I wonder why.

Besides the fact that Paterson was home to some of the 9/11 hijackers, could it be because Paterson was the town where Arabs were found to be hooting and partying it up upon hearing of the Sept. 11th horror?

You may recall that the situation was so bad that the chief of police asked the media to retract the stories, not becaue they weren't true (there were several eye witnesses,) but becaue he was afraid that angry Americans would burn the entire town to the ground in retaliation for the behavior of these people.

Unfortunately, many of these folk were observed cheering while watching the television as the twin towers dropped.

The real fear here is not hate crimes or racial profiling - it is being deported when found to be here illegally.

They have tasted freedom but hate the country that provide it to them.

>>strange for people who claimed to be strict Moslems

Not strange because transgressions of sharia are permissible when engaging in the greater jihad and the propagation of the faith, as perceived by them.

Yes, really. However, you will hear strict denials of any such thing from 'officials'. I know a cop who was dispatched to the 'celebrations' in Jersey City. This was later 'rewritten' to mean 'stop the ethnic harassment of Muslims in the wake of the WTC attack'. It was no such thing. The local Muslims were celebrating quite loudly & someone called the cops because the Puerto Ricans (lots of Puerto Ricans died in the WTC) that live in Jersey City and Union City (next door) were gonna give them an A@@-Whipping.
