You mention impeachment of Daschle? Would the House bring formal charges? No. Would the Senate muster a 2/3 vote to expel? No.

The people of SD are safe: they can have Daschle as long as they want him, I am afraid.

SD started one of the three reforms that we studied in government class, but I can't remember which one. It was either the initiative, the referendum, or the recall. We know that WI has recall of senators, but LA and TX do not. It is also questionable if a U.S. senator can be recalled, for there is nothing in the Constitution about recalling any national officials.
