One of my youngest daughter's best friends was adopted from China. A beautiful, assertive (and-how!) little girl, desperate for the arrival of her long-awaited little sister. BOY does she need a sister, to move her aside a bit from center-of-the-universe. There are constant delays. Maybe that baby who just died was supposed to come here. SAD.

I didn't mean to approve baby-buying. I'm just saying that China is not making it easy for people who cannot keep their babies to get them to people who want them so much, and it's costing lives unnecessarily.

This sounds like you're describing The World's Greatest Kid, now five, who is busting her seams to go get little sister. But we're in D.C.:)
