Russian jammers and technicians for Iraq: the Russian manufacturer lunatic

The Russian company Aviakonversiïa contradicted Sunday evening that its technicians and its jammers help Iraq to scramble the American military communications, like had shown the American State Department indirectly of it.

"We did not sell anything in Iraq", declared with the AFP the director of the company, Oleg Antonov. "the Americans quite simply invented it. That they try to stop one of our men ", it added.

"They will not find any of our technicians in Iraq. They seek a scapegoat because their bombs are not as precise as they would like it ", insisted Mr. Antonov.

According to a high American person in charge, the United States thinks that Russian technicians help Iraq to scramble crucial satellite signals for the guidance of the bombs and American and British apparatuses.

"These four last years, Iraq sent representatives to us who stated to want to place from the orders", still explained the director of Aviakonversiïa. perhaps "They came fifteen times, had talks, promised to transfer from the funds, then they left and we re-examined them more, they did not buy anything", it added.

The State Department showed Sunday of the Russian firms - without quoting their name - to have provided to the Iraqi army equipment which can directly threaten the forces armed with the United States and their allies.

According to Washington Post, Aviakonversiïa would have provided to Iraq equipment of electronic jamming which can make inoperative the system of positioning total, used by the aviation and the Army of the United States.

Mr. Antonov confirmed that his company produced such materials, able to scramble communications at a distance going up to 200 kilometers, according to atmospheric conditions'.

"I said to the Americans and to our presidency that Iraq probably manufactured these jammers all alone or with the assistance of Yugoslavia", the director of Aviakonversiïa indicated.

"There is nobody from on our premises in Iraq. We do not send our representatives over there ", declared Mr. Antonov, specifying that representatives of the American armed forces bought its jammers these four last years, to test them.

Probably a hint of truth in the "through Yugoslavia" bit, though probably more likely through France.

Even if these things could effectively jam a military GPS signal, and that's a big if, the INS guidance in the JDAM takes over.

Present-tense denials because the techs are safely home? That is a statement worthy of you know who.
