Saddam Addresses Nation, Promises 'Victory Is Soon'

BAGHDAD, Iraq ? President Saddam Hussein addressed his nation Monday, urging the Iraqi people and military to be patient with the promise that "victory is soon."

"Iraq will strike the necks (of the enemy) as God has commanded you," he said in a nationally televised address. "Strike them, and strike evil so that evil will be defeated."

The New York Times indicates this tape is current. This article from Fox seems to indicate this tape is current. Did the rat survive? I sure hope not! I'm taking comfort that he could have been specific about the time and date, but he was not! I can't express how much I hope he is no longer with the living.

Shoots, Saddam was about as alive as Howdy Doody. In fact, if you look reaaaaaalllly closely at that sheet behind him, you can see the outline of the little black string they use to make his jaw go up and down.

On another thread (in the Breaking News section) a FReeper noticed that he praised the commander of the 51st - the one who SURRENDERED! Of the quotes listed here, I see nothing to indicate that Saddam is still alive.

Analysts now say pre-recorded. All the "battles" he mentions were areas well-known to be hot zones before the fight, and he also noticeably didn't mention the POWS---something this sick puppy would have done.

It is my strong belief that last night's tape was cobbled together from '91 speeches, contrary to the opinion of the NY Slimes. Saadumb appeared much stronger and younger, and mentioned items which he very well might have said in '91... The analysts at the Pentagon, and probably even (gasp) the network media will probably know for sure later today.

This tape was recorded after W's ultimatum and before the first strike which killed SH.

He does not gloat about being alive. He does not mention the POWs. Um Qasr is the FIRST CITY any invasion would come to. He makes too many mistakes such as, referring to Basra as being occupied. Or praising the 51st, and 11th divisions both of which surrendered or capitulated.

OR he is "unavailable" or injured and not healthy enough to go on TV. In fact, it is possible that he is no longer on Dadhbag, having been spirited away to a medical facility out of town. His regime is programmed to go on autopilot if he's unavailable for any reason.
