NBC: Al-Qaida message aids Iraq
MSNBC ^ | 3/25/03 | Lisa Myers

March 24 -- NBC's Lisa Myers reports on an apparent al-Qaida message aimed at Iraqis trying to subvert the U.S.-led invasion of their country.

March 24 — NBC News has obtained a copy of a message from the al-Qaida terrorist network to Muslims in Iraq, a message that is, in effect, a military playbook on how to defeat Americans.

THE MESSAGE obtained by NBC News is in Arabic, and is addressed to “our brothers in Iraq.” It is written by Saif Al-Adel, the security chief for Osama Bin Laden, said to be the mastermind for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. Al-Adel is believed to be the third highest al-Qaida official alive and on the run.

Ben Venzke, who runs the terrorism intelligence group IntelCenter, told NBC that the message, posted on the al-Qaida site in the last couple of weeks, reveals how al-Qaida uses the Internet to spread its holy war. IntelCenter has been tracking al-Qaida postings and discovered the message earlier this month.

That's the playbook that worked so well for them in Afghanistan!

Oh no Al queda is a devout Islamic fundamentalist sect and they would NEVER ally themselves with Iraq because it is too secular....</stupid ignorance off>

Just a couple other brief observations...

1. How many 9/11 "masterminds" are there. Every time I turn around someone says ..'so and so is believed to have been the mastermind of 9/11...isnt that like unilateral..I mean isnt there only 1 mastermind and they rest are contributors..kinda like unilateral is individually without others but somehow 35 nations has become unilateral.

2.If defeating us was so easy then why is it that Al Queda hasnt "easily" defeated us in Afgahnistan yet..I mean we dont have near the contigency of forces there now as we did during the campaign..surley they would have us routed now.

3. Al Queda's leadership is making a fatal mistake. They believed that they can judge America by the chartacter of our last president. Kill a few soldiers and the politicvs force us to retreat. They fail to realize that not only did the last president lack the integrity, resolve and dedication to duty that our current president has...but further more our last presidents did not represent the integrity, resolve and dutifulness of our nation either.

I was thinking the same thing. "Chapter 1. How to hide in caves like rats." "Chapter 2. Ten things to do while the bombs are falling." etc.

I'm with you. Every time some rag head is apprehended the press or the Pentagon calls them the "Mastermind". It's just press masturbation, as far as I'm concerned.

As for the Al Qaeda making the mistake that Bush is Clinton, it's a good point. However, If the network morning shows keep interviewing families of casualties or pow's it will play into Al Qaeda's hands. I think these dramatic interviews weaken the public will and is purposeful tactic of the Leftist media. These families are letting he enemy in the front door and offering them cookies.

The Iraqis are actively seeking someone to translate this document out of the French language, so that they can begin using it in earnest.

No disagreement on that point. Abc in particular makes me want to vomit. Last night ABC did a report complaining how we werent letting the Red Cross distribute our humanitarian supplies in Iraq. I found myself observing how there was no mention of what an extrodinary jesture it was that here we were delivering thousands of tons of humanitarian aid to the very country we were at war with and there is no mention of the generosity of spirit that represents..no the reall issue was how mean an d nasty were were being by not allowing the Red Cross to deliver the food...makes me sick.
