Well, they paid Russia for those tanks and probably paid them to maintain them. Any tank captured might be used against them in other areas like in Afghanistan with the captured USSR tanks.

Those old T55's are like death traps on treads.

Some T-55s were destroyed after they tried to hide among houses near the village of Abul Khasib.

I guess they'll find out soon enough that THAT little tactic won't work anymore!

T-55s?! The poor slobs. They might as well have rode into battle on mopeds.

LOL.

In the first Gulf War I remember a rumor (untrue) that we were going to use sheep to walk out in front to explode the mines.

I developed a name for them - the Combat Herd Of Patriotic Sheep - "CHOPS".

Wow, you're near APG?

My husband took his Officer Basic and Branch training there. They let 'em shoot LAWs at some extra ones . . . so my hubby can honestly say he's flamed a Russky tank . . . it just didn't have any treads or turret and was unoccupied at the time . . .

I used to go down there to visit him. Bunch of types from various armies circulating in and out of there.

...hubby can honestly say he's flamed a Russky tank.

There are still lots of leftovers on which troops practice. Actually, we're about two miles from the edge of a forest in which troops practice battle tactics...while I was glued to the telly watching bombs over Baghdad Friday there were real-life battle sounds (gunfire and explosions) right outside. Talk about surround sound!! Zoiks!

That must be a little odd to get it in stereo.

My Labrador LOVES the sound of guns and fireworks too, sounds like playtime to her. I have to put her in the house on the 4th of July or she'll be trying to retrieve bottle rockets . . . when the war is on the telly, she comes over and puts her nose in my left hand - "Can I retrieve a tank?? Oh, please, let me! Let me!"

B-52's were produced back in the 50's also, but I wouldn't argue they are not lethal.

Yeah but if one was heading towards you, I bet it would scare the pants off a person.

Depends if I'm in one of our better tanks or not!

Did we lose a tank in DSI due to an Iraqi tank?

"Big American Dog! Aaaaaaaaaaaa!"

"Go GET it, girl! Bring! Hold it! O.K., give!"

She's a little Chocolate Lab (21 1/2", 41 pounds) with a great BIG attitude. She will retrieve anything - logs, bricks, tire irons, once brought me a BOWLING BALL for heaven's sake, got her teeth into the finger holes and came staggering into the living room with it. On the other hand, I once sent her out to chase the squirrels off the feeder and she came back with a bird in her mouth. I yelled, "Drop it!" and she dropped it, and it FLEW OFF. Probably too soft a mouth to waste on fedayin. (I wonder what that particular tufted titmouse told his wife when he got home . . . )

Is this right? The Al FAW peninsula is way south about 50-60 miles of Basra. Where did these tanks come from?
