French companies — many with ties to Baghdad stretching back decades

Let's fix that:

French companies — many with ties to Baghdad the dictator Saddam Hussein stretching back decades

That's better!

I hope they try and take Iraq from us at a point of a gun so we can kick their ass back to Paris.

To the VICTOR goes the spoils.

You sit on the sidelines early, you sit on the sidelines later.

I think you all have it wrong.

We should let the French in on postwar reconstruction. We should let them have the most lucrative contract out there. Cleaning up the chemical weapons plants.

After all, they probably built them for the Iraqis. Let them take the risks of cleaning them up.< / sarcasm>

Iraq should be controlled by a new Iraqi government with a defense pact with the US and UK. The UN should keep out as they are controlled by people who wish us harm. Perhaps as a concession to the UN, Iraq could have Hans Blict in an "advisory" role.

Worried it could be shut out of business deals in postwar Iraq (news - web sites), France is drawing up plans to win French companies access to lucrative oil and reconstruction contracts, officials said Tuesday.

Well Iraq does have quite a bit of sand France can go pound.

Perhaps they would be willing to reconstruct all the toilets and cess pools

and be paid in used toilet paper.

I can't think of anything else fitting.
