More than 40 explosions have been heard around Iraq's capital, Baghdad.
According to reports, one blast was heard near the Information Ministry and US officials claimed to have hit Iraqi state-run television.
Iraq's Satellite TV went off the air at 4.30am local time (1.30am GMT) as explosions rang out in Baghdad and remains off the air.
It was not immediately clear if the domestic television service, Iraq Television, was affected as it does not broadcast overnight. But it began broadcasting versus from the Koran around 9am (6am GMT).
Another 40 explosions were heard around the southern area of the city, where Allied troops are expected to attack from soon.
Sky News reporter David Chater, speaking from Baghdad, said: "Most of the night, we've been hearing pounding going on in the western and southern parts of the city.
"This must be to do with the drive of the Coalition troops and the "softening up" of Saddam Hussein's Republican Guard.
"The final battle is beginning to start."
No anti-aircraft fire could be seen and air raid sirens remained silent in the city.
The attacks come as ground fighting intensifies around the country.
Coalition troops are engaging Iraqi forces in fierce fighting in Basra, Najaf and Nasiriyah.

Well, if this is true, we are not exactly convincing the Iraqis with our might. First we use microwaves and take the TV out temporarily, they are back on air. Then we bomb them and shortly thereafter they are back on air.
Time for a MOAB and the heck with what else it hits around there. This is becoming ridiculous!

Well, how hard will it be to find out where the signal is originating?

I hope a second hit won't require a presidential order again! As I said, this is becoming ridiculous. The mighty US can't take out a lousy TV station permanently, because we are too concerned to just make one tiny hole in their antenna, or something, instead of demolishing it.

Fox says it's off now.
Was taken off with an e-bomb; came back; was taken off with a conventional bomb and is off.
Announced one minute ago live by Brian Wilson on Fox News Channel.

Apparently the Iraqi satellite TV is off, but not their "regular" local Iraqi TV, which is what the Iraqi people are watching, with all its propaganda.

Iraqi Strikes Hit Baghdad.
How the hell do Iraqis strike their own capital? Inquiring minds would like to know.
To: FairOpinion
This idea of total concern for the civilians is truly backwards thinking. The longer the Iraqi regime is in power, the more danger the civilians are in.
The most humane thing we can do is to POUND Saddam's supporters into the ground, civilians or no. REAL shock and REAL awe.
We are going to do this anyway after they hit us with NBCs; maybe we can prevent it by a massive preemptive strike?

According to several military experts on FNC, this station was in a hospital area and next to a day care center.
Killing babies/toddlers in a hospital area would be just what the NY Slimes and ABCNNBCBS need now to make us look like the Great Satan.

Now it is broadcasting from a different location with a very weak signal. FNC as I type.

So Damn Insane's private home he is in tonight is probably playing the Iraqi anthem and how great he is.The scum moves twice a night to where we can't bomb. We'll nuke him out.

As I said, this is becoming ridiculous. It isn't becoming anything. It was always ridiculous. The US is not repsonsible for the safety of Iraqi civilians. Iraq is.

The sat link is gone so for most of Iraq the TV station is nothing but white snow. They came back up on a local transmitter and as long as the people in the capital still have a set of rabbit ears in the closet they might get a signal. However now their transmitter is a beacon for HARM missiles. The weak local signal says what we want to say quite well.
Kinda like a turkey shoot.

Fox just reported that iraqi international and uday's tv station (which reaches the entire country) are out 100% but a small and very week local channel is still up.

"Fox just reported that iraqi international and uday's tv station (which reaches the entire country) are out 100% but a small and very week local channel is still up."If it is transmitting it can be easily found and eliminated. The transmitter is probably in a maternity ward next to the old folks home, on top of the 24 hr pre-school. The locals know that being next to this is likely to be hazardous to ones health. Take it out.

P.C. war to avoid the CNN factor is ridiculous.
For God's sake, just:
KILL THEM ALL, AND BE DONE WITH IT!

Wait a second: an e-bomb? as in EMP type? If that were true, then nothing for quite a distance would operate electronically. There would be no back-up. What e-bomb were they talking about?
