This is great news. Sounds like Sec. Powell and Tony Blair just flipped the UN the diplomatic bird.

Three cheers for Powell. How that great, impotent body (the U.N.) thinks it could mastermind the reconstruction of Iraq is beyond me.

Big Bump! I guess all the calls and mail and email worked.

Now I would love to hear this from the President!

The UN is dead as far as America is concerned!

France's pretty boy promised Powell that it would be a strong backer when they passed 1441. They shafted him. He's not about to give deVillopannne another chance!

Are you now claiming this as one of your "victories?"

BTW, this article has been up almost 15 hours. All the while, you were spamming the forum, trashing Powell and Blair and Bush.

Duh. Again.

I don't guess we're going to get an answer; he's off on his new mission from God:

Come on - it's no secret that Powell was a dove at that time, and a globalist first, American second. I have never trusted Powell and never will.

Did he forget his tinfoil?

There is a simple explanation for a lot of this:
Most of this Russian stuff appears to have gone over to Iraq during the time Yeltsin was suppedly in charge of things. While Yeltsin was drinking himself into oblivion, stuff happened.

However, if the extent of Yeltsin's malfeasance in this area were to be exposed, it would arguably give the Communists a new shot at relevance. They are not nice folks, you realize, and that is to the tune of 100 million dead if you believe some of the estimates.

So, Putin is protecting Yeltsin - the price, if you will, for allowing the bloodless palace coup to take place in 2000. As such, Bush and Putin will end up working together at a later date on matters. I'll even bet that the new government of Iraq decides to honor the debts Saddam made with Russia.

France and Germany, on the other hand, are toast.

2) UN responds by becoming an aggressive in your face, take no prisoners "obey us or we will be a "preventive" invading force in the future - bad thing

With what will they invade? We've been doing ALL the heavy lifting for the UN since its inception.

Time for you to apologize to Powell.

I predict Powell will move on before the end of the year.

That's true. I never said he wasn't a dove. I just don't think he deserves ALL the bad comments he gets here.

And there is no doubt in my military historian mind that the democrats and other Marxists in this country will meet them at the beach with picnic lunches and maps to the White House.

You predicted Powell would leave the Bush administration by the end of 2002. At least you could admit your prediction was wrong.

You said Powell would do the self-promoting thing of resigning and blasting the administration on his way out. He didn't, unlike his counterpart in Britain, Robin Cook. Powell stuck for the good of the country (which he holds higher than his self-interest).

You have misjudged this aspect of Powell, because even though you hate his policy positions, the man is a patriot.
