Homegrown Jihad

In San Francisco last week there was a gathering of the great unwashed, better known as anti-war protesters. They carried signs and banners bearing anti-American and anti-Bush slogans. One of those banners proclaimed "We Support Our Troops When They Shoot Their Officers" according to the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto.

Sgt. Asan Akbar apparently heard the message. Shortly after midnight on Sunday, in an army camp in Kuwait he rolled hand grenades into three tents killing a captain and injuring 15 others, including a brigade commander.

According to The Los Angeles Times soldiers in his unit, the 326th Engineer Battalion assigned to the 101st Airborne Division said they overheard Akbar declare: "You guys are coming into our countries, and you're going to rape our women and kill our children."

"Our countries? Our children?" What is he talking about? Akbar is American, born and bred. His name was Mark Fidel Kools before his mother changed it when he was a young boy. He hasn’t got an Iraqi gene in his DNA - he’s a black Muslim born in the U.S.A. where he has been exposed to years of hate America speech from the likes of Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, John Conyers, and all those other demagogues whose stock in trade is to blame everything that’s wrong in the world, and all the problems encountered by African-Americans, on the United States. They preach hatred of America, and Akbar heard the message clearly and became a black Muslim in reaction to it.

And it now appears that Akbar is not the first Black Muslim to pitch grenades into the tents of his fellow soldiers. Back in November the Seattle Times reported on a similar incident, which occurred in another Engineering Company, the 84th, during the Gulf War in 1991.

The Times said that a retired sergeant named Kip Berentson and at least two other former members of the 84th, say that a soldier by the name John Allen Muhammad threw a thermite grenade into a tent housing 16 of his fellow soldiers. Berentson, who was in the tent, recalled that the grenade went off near him and near a staff sergeant with whom Muhammad had fought earlier that day. The Army's Criminal Investigation Division, Berentson says, concluded Muhammad (then named Williams) was the lead suspect and although he was led away in handcuffs and eventually transferred to another company pending charges, he was never indicted for the crime.

You remember who John Allen Muhammad is, don’t you? He’s the older of the two snipers who terrorized the Washington area and killed 10 innocent unarmed Americans and seriously wounded three others.

Thanks to the racial demagogues there is a lot of the kind of hatred that motivated these two Black Muslims out there. We have raised up a certain percentage of young black Americans who hate America because they’ve been sold a bill of goods that they have been discriminated against and kept from getting ahead simply because they are black.

Who sold them that shoddy argument? The so-called black leadership – demagogues such as Jesse Jackson, John Conyers, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, Louis Farrakhan, Kweisi Mfume, Al Sharpton and the rest of that media-appointed black leadership whose rhetoric is filled with hatred for America.

Akbar was trained to hate America by these demagogues who tell their fellow African Americans they are owed everything – they are owed this and they are owed that – reparations, government handouts, preferential treatment - and if they don’t get it they are never going to get ahead, and the only reason you are not getting ahead is only because they are black.

Akbar heard them, and so did John Allen Muhammad, and eleven Americans are dead because of what these two men heard and acted on.

I had not made the connection between this banner and the grenade attack in Kuwait. Chilling to see the violent and hateful nature of these anti-Americans in our midst.

Don't forget about the black Muslims in prison, too. Lots of anti-American, blame-Whitey sentiment there.

I read this and I think of Timothy McVeigh and his *hundreds* of victims... civilians. And I wonder who taught him. Maybe these folks are just simply aberrations since, fortunately, they are relatively rare in our own society.

I had totally forgotten about sniper John Mohammed tossing the grenade in the tent back then! Holy Cow! And yet the authorities still refuse to discuss even the possibility that Islam and Army don't mix.

Wonder what the publicity would be like if people held up signs that said "we support the people who shoot anti-war protestors"?

His name was Mark Fidel Kools before his mother changed it

That's not what bothers me... what bothers me is her originally naming him after her favorite currency, favorite political figure, and favorite brand of smokes.

Don't disagree with the gist of this article, but today we had a black general give the Centcom briefing. Wouldn't mind him giving it everyday. He took at least one of the whining press to task by telling him if he didn't like the quality/quanity of the information given out at the briefing, he could leave -- nothing was keeping him there. He was very articulate and quite fast with good, solid, answers to the usual press idiot questions (are we not targeting civilians, what targets are we going to hit tommorow, when are we going to be in Baghdad, etc.?)

He reminds me of other blacks (e.g. Condi, Colin)who have risen above the Jesse Jackson et.al crap, usually due to parents who have instilled in their children self esteem, a love of learning, and a desire to achieve. We will hear more from this general, no doubt.

Here is the name of the General who gave the briefing this morning (and more context from Rush):

Brigadier General Vincent Brooks faces some outrageous and stupid questions at his daily Central Command briefings. Some of them deserve to be answered dead on, but because of political correctness and diplomacy and all that, CENTCOM can't always do that. I can, which is why I sometimes answer these questions in a mock briefing. On Thursday, I focused on a question by New York magazine's Michael Wolff.

Wolff said: "I mean no disrespect by this question, but I want to ask about the value proposition of these briefings. We're no longer being briefed by senior-most officers." The press pool applauded the question, which drew a rapier-quick response from Brooks who said, "I've gotten applause already. That's wonderful. I appreciate that."

Born in Dallas and raised north of the beltway just off Harry Hines Blvd. I know that Texas has no use for idiots.

Susan Sarandon was born in the US but she hasn't a clue what mainstream America wants. You obviously have a difference of opinion to mine but rather than debate your position intelligently, you resort to ad hominem attacks. Maybe that's the best you can do. At any rate, I'm done here.
