Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running on the weekend, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I posted this on the last thread, but it was toward the end, and I think people should see it.
From Jed Babbin:
"I have confirmed that the Al-Jazeera tape, all twelve minutes of it, is merely an excerpt of the hour-long version being shown regularly in Egypt and elsewhere. The short version shows the interrogation of some U.S. soldiers and the defamed dead bodies of others. The longer version includes all that, plus the murders and later abuse and mutilation of the bodies. Apparently, the whole thing is out there on the internet. I don't want to watch it tonight. Maybe tomorrow morning, when the mind is fresher, more able to withstand it."

Good Morning all,
as we enter day 9 of Operation Iraq Freedom -
Let us offer prayers for our fallen heroes, the soldiers in theater, them families of all of our brave soldiers, and for the Iraqi people - God's Mercy to all of them.
I would again like to thank all of you for keeping this idea alive.
Yesterday there were some unfortunate exchanges due to OT stuff. I'm sorry if anyone was offended, that was not my intent. Simple reminder this time - please try to stay OT as much as possible. Thanks.

you guys arent going to believe this but I haven't had a second until now to log onto freep and/or watch the news...what has been happening since 2 days ago?? About 30 seperate instances of "LOUD EXPLOSIONS" rocking Bagdad, sandstorms clearing up, Belly Girl staying resolute as ever, and the Paleo-Cons sniping at the administration. Oh and Geraldo has a new hairdo. That about sums it up.

re. Saddam's yacht
I've been imagining the state of his garage. Ferraris never flew so fast... or high.
Elsehwere... Just saw a clip of the latest Iraqi Defense Minister press conference. He was saying, "...and the victims were all women, children, and the elderly who could not afford to..."
And I cut in and yelled, "HEALTH CARE!"
Oh well, he cut from Dem talking points to those of the Pubbies with "...defend themselves."
What we're seeing these past few days is a depressed flipside to the gleeful hysteria of the first advance. There is no longer tense than the present tense.

BAGHDAD- At least six new blasts rocked the outskirts of Baghdad on Friday morning following a night of intensive bombing in and around the Iraqi capital, a Reuters reporter said.
Some anti-aircraft could be heard as the explosions pounded areas to the east and south of the capital, correspondent Nadim Ladki said.
Residents said it was one of the heaviest nights of U.S.-led bombing yet seen in the war, now entering its ninth day.

Speaking of Bunker Busters....
Last nicht before I had to stop Freeping, there were reports of MASSIVE explosions in Baghdad. Has CENTCOM / Pentagon released information on this??
To: merrin
