Kenya Muslims on Friday protested the arrest of two brothers and their cousin by over 20 Flying Squad and Criminal Investigation Department officers in connection with alleged terrorism attacks.

Speaking to members of the press at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Mandera Central Member of Parliament Mr. Adan Billow Kerow claimed that the arrest was a clear sign of intimidation by the government.

The MP alleged that the government was harassing Muslims just because of expediency of financial assistance from US government.

Merrs Khalad Hashim Ali Jeneby, 27, Ali Hashil Jeneby, 30, and Mbaruk Adham Batsy, 24, were arrested in Tudor estate in Mombasa at about 5.45 am on Tuesday.

The three left Kenya in 1998 for the USA where they trained as pilots before coming back in the year 2001.

Mr. Kerow called on the government to desist from harassing Muslims by giving in to the American government’s demand to arrest them.

Admitting the need to crackdown on terrorists, the MP warned that a lot of care needed to be taken so as not to victimise innocent people.

“The whole issue of arresting Kenyans and handing them over to the FBI is unacceptable and must stop,” the MP said.

He said Muslim leaders will meet to deliberate on the issue and make their stand public.

“They have been harassing the Muslim community ever since the terrorism attacks in Nairobi and Mombasa. We are tired of this and it's high time the Government protected its wananchi, including Muslims," said the MP.

According to the mothers of the alleged suspects, Mrs Zubeda Omar, Hashim and Hashil's mother and Mrs Aisha Omar Athman, Batsy's mother, the over 20 officers arrived in over 10 civilian vehicles some of which did not have registration numbers. They went to Mrs Aisha Omar's house where they arrested Batsy.

The officers reportedly told the parents and relatives of the suspects that they were only following directives to have the three arrested and taken to Nairobi for questioning.

The three pilots were escorted to Nairobi by CID and Flying Squad officers under heavy security.

There are fears that the police might be planning to take the three pilots to the US for questioning.

The officers later searched Basty's room where they took away his mobile phone, US passport and an Indian passport among other US and Bombay travel documents.

Basty arrived from Bombay in January 8, this year where he had taken his mother for an operation.

The police officers then proceeded to Aisha Omar sister's house, also in the posh Tudor area, where they demanded entry.

Though she refused to open at first fearing they were thugs, Zubeda said the officers later gained entry into her house and picked up her first son Hashil with his various documents including his US passport.

Zubeda then advised her second son, Hashim, who was in Nairobi to come down to Mombasa immediately to avoid harassment by police while in Nairobi.

He arrived in Mombasa at around 11.30 am before his father, a retired worker at the Oman Oil Refinery in Muscat, handed him peacefully over to the CID Coast headquarters.

the arrest was a clear sign of intimidation by the government.

That phrase is overworked these days. They use it often and hope that its repitition will make it true.

Muslims seem to be the same in every country! One of their own does something atrocious, and when the government steps in to apprehend them the other muslims group in together and start singing in chorus "oppression from the government!"

Honestly i am just tired of Islam .....and i am a hard person to tire or anger.

Thanks for the ping HG. Continue being happy (LOL).

Cu drag,

Anthony.
