In an unprecedented display of contempt for pre-born children and our armed forces, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is "honoring" Jane Fonda. The well-known pro-abortion activist who was roundly scorned for visiting Hanoi during the height of the Vietnam War is receiving Planned Parenthood's highest award -- the PPFA Margaret Sanger Award -- this Saturday, March 29, 2003.
"Every American, especially our veterans and active-duty military, should be outraged that Planned Parenthood would pay homage to Jane Fonda," said Jim Sedlak, Executive Director of American Life League's STOPP International.
Additionally, PPFA President Gloria Feldt recently released a statement that said freedom for Iraqi women could only be achieved if the U.S. Government provides them with access to contraception and abortion, despite the fact that both practices are in direct opposition to the Muslim religion.
"Planned Parenthood's lack of integrity truly knows no bounds! The Iraqi people are embracing the prospect of real freedom from oppression, yet Planned Parenthood wants to wage its own war on Iraq's pre-born children through its dictatorial regime of abortion and contraception," said Sedlak.
At a time when the people of the United States are coming together to support our troops, Planned Parenthood continues the tradition of their founder-Margaret Sanger-by sowing the seeds of discord.
"Planned Parenthood's actions are truly shameful. Is an utter disgrace that the U.S. government provides $240.9 million taxpayer dollars towards their annual budget."
STOPP International is an American Life League project dedicated to fighting Planned Parenthood's anti-life agenda. ALL, with more than 375,000 supporting families, is the nation's largest pro-life educational organization.
Pro-abortion outrage of the week

PLANNED PARENTHOOD: With U.S. troops fighting in Iraq, most Americans have been praying for the safety of the fighting forces. But Planned Parenthood's thoughts have turned to what else? Abortion!
Planned Parenthood's head honcho can only watch the goings-on in the Middle East through abortion-tinted glasses. Gloria Feldt has been complaining that women in the military "are not trusted by our government to make their own childbearing choices" (translation: the U.S. government refuses to abort these women's babies in our taxpayer-supported military hospitals).
Ms. Feldt is also lobbying for "reproductive health assistance" for war refugees. Such "services," of course, would include abortion.
She spoke of he fight for freedom in Iraq, and then commented that "the most fundamental freedom is the freedom of reproductive self-determination." The implication, of course, is that Iraqi women will only be "liberated" when they're free to destroy the children in their wombs.
In keeping with war-related themes, Planned Parenthood also announced plans to give its 2003 Margaret Sanger Award to Jane Fonda, whose travels during the Vietnam conflict earned her the sobriquet "Hanoi Jane."

Hey hey hey.....let's not be hasty, here. Jane Fonda has made at least ONE contribution to society.
Fred Reed (USMC, Vietnam Vet) recently wrote a column about his favorite bar and the new 'Jane Fonda' picture targets for the urinals. Seems that he's been drinking extra beer so that he can make a (ahem) 'statement'.
......so at least she's contributing to the economy. Or at least to one bar owner.

I haven't seen any statement from Jane after her rumored conversion. If she is not ashamed of her faith, let her profess.

Jane Fonda Receives Award From Planned Parenthood
Portland, OR -- Actress and political activist Jane Fonda received the Planned Parenthood Federation of America's highest award at a dinner at the Portland Hilton.
Fonda received the Margaret Sanger Award -- named for Planned Parenthood's founder -- at the pro-abortion group's annual convention. Federation President Gloria Feldt says Fonda, who serves on a Planned Parenthood advisory board, has helped the organization take a more active role in politics and has shown a keen understanding of many of the pressures facing young girls.
Fonda has also been a major political donor to the pro-abortion movement. In 2000, she gave more than $12 million dollars to help bankroll an advertising and get-out-the-vote effort to help candidates supporting legalized abortion.
Speaking at the awards dinner, Fonda became "animated" discussing the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, a program she founded that combats teen pregnancy.
"It's interesting if you look at our country compared to other industrialized countries," Fonda said, adding, "In Europe, for example, they look at the same television, they look at the same video games, they probably have sex just as much. But they don't have the abortions, they don't have the out-of-wedlock births, they don't have the AIDS we have."
Fonda said she "doesn't disagree" with abstinence education programs but believes only promoting abstinence will not do enough to prevent teen pregnancy. Teen pregnancy should be treated as a "public health issue," as it is in Europe, Fonda said. "[Europeans] feel young people have the right to accurate information," Fonda said, adding, "They're treated like human beings instead of like people that need to be scared, chaste and ashamed of their bodies and ashamed of pleasure -- and left in the dark as though somehow that was going to prevent them from having sex"

Camp class under fire
Published in the Asbury Park Press 8/16/01
By GEORGIA EAST
COASTAL MONMOUTH BUREAU
LONG BRANCH -- A family planning organization that runs a self-esteem class at a local city day camp is coming under fire from a small group of pro-life activists.
The class, taught by Planned Parenthood at the Long Branch Housing Authority's summer camp, teaches children from ages 5 to 12 about how self-esteem affects attitude and behavior.
But a group of about six pro-life activists, who attended a Housing Authority board of commissioner's meeting at Garfield Court last night, said they believe Planned Parenthood has a hidden agenda to start reaching out to young children -- although the subjects of abortion or contraceptives is not discussed in the program, which includes personal hygiene.
"They are getting their name out that they are people to trust," said Rita Duenas, of Freehold, who believes the organization should not be associated with the camp.
But several residents of the housing authority, including the acting executive director, said they support the program because it is not sexual in nature, and gives children positive activities to take part in.
"I'm against abortion, but a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood. They teach the children awareness and self esteem," said Jeanette Platts, who lives in the Woodrow Wilson complex. "It's not about abortion; it's about good hygiene."
Michael Winnick, acting executive director at the Housing Authority, said Planned Parenthood has been teaching the same classes at the camp for three years. The program was approved by the previous executive director, Winnick said. Planned Parenthood's education department comes in for one hour a week for about five weeks in the summer and conducts activities with the children.
"I understand the concerns of people who feel there is an underlying reason for Planned Parenthood to be there," said Winnick. "But this is coming from an abstinence-based curriculum." He said parents are monitoring the classes closely, and the organization's name is not on materials given to the children.
Winnick said he has received few complaints from people who live in housing authority buildings. And he said there are no plans to eliminate the program.
Phyllis Kinsler, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey, said she was not surprised to learn that there were people opposed to the organization's arrangement with the camp.
"There are people who think we shouldn't do anything, anywhere, anytime," said Kinsler, who said the camp program is constructive and age-appropriate.
Kinsler said in one of this summer's projects, the children had pictures of themselves taken and then decorated picture frames with items that said something about their personality.
"We're a small part of a comprehensive effort to do good things for their kids," Kinsler said.
Keith Roberson, who is the drug elimination program coordinator at the Housing Authority and a reverend, said he has no problem with the program.
"I've spot checked and talked to counselors," Roberson said. "As a man of God, I don't believe in abortion," but he said he feels secure that those subjects aren't raised at the camp.
"I would be more excited if you would come back to help our youth," Roberson said to the group of activists at the meeting.
Cecilia Mazza, Long Branch, said she will continue to rally to have the program removed.
"How can we, as parents, trust our children to an organization whose primary agenda is to aggressively pursue nullifying parents rights and undermining parental authority?" Mazza said.
Julie Rogers said to the board, "Planned Parenthood has got its foot in the door. How long will this existing agenda last before the real agenda kicks in?"
Mary Cooper, who works at the day camp, told the board the children look forward to the one-hour-a-week classes, which ended for the season on Friday.
Attention Voters:
Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey, one of New Jersey's largest providers of abortions, gets $1,442,085 in Federal and State government grants. 40% of their $3,458,786 revenues.
They spend $305,388 lobbying for more tax money and AGAINST a ban on Partial Birth Abortions and AGAINST Parental Notification when a teenager wants to have an abortion.
Now at the Long Branch Housing Authority's Summer Camp, they are teaching their anti-Catholic pro-abortion rhetoric to children as young as 4 years old.
Spring Lake Mayor, Thomas Byrne, says they need to get County tax dollars too. Please call him and tell him they do not need to get County tax dollars as well. 732-449-0800 x2 x1
Please call Long Branch Mayor Adam Schneider and tell him that children, especially four year old children, should not be taught anything by Planned Parenthood. 732-222-7000 x 271
